Q 1: OK so i needed a new rear diff centre for my 80 series, bought one from Vic (Im NSW) and its the wrong ratio...OUCH! So i need a new one, again! I also have a complete front diff sitting in my garage ready to go in, but dont know the ratio. So how do I tell what ratio a diff is?
Q 2: I also need a new gearbox (for my 80 series), I have a source but the bloke dosent know what engine its out of, is there a part number or easy way to tell if its out of a 1FZ-FE?
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: How to identify, Please HELP!!??
If ya can turn the pinion turn it until ya get the axle to turn 1 full turn while counting how many turns of the pinion it took to get the one turn of the axle and that should be the ratio, if that makes any sense. Or ya could count the pinion teeth vs the crown wheel teeth.

I don't know nothin bout gearboxes aye
Re: How to identify, Please HELP!!??
Gearboxes in a manual 80 series are a h151f. Doesn't matter what motor they all use the same gearbox I'm pretty sure
my 93 80 series with 1fzfe engine is a h151f gearbox. Can't help with autos.
And the only surefire way of determining diff ratio is by counting the teeth.

Re: How to identify, Please HELP!!??
Yep, as posted above, count the teeth on the crownwheel, and divide it by the number of teeth on the pinion.
You should have the centre out anyway if you are replacing it.
Another way is to check the trans/axle code on the compliance plate. See what that can tell you.
But the best way of finding out what ratio you have is by counting the teeth.
