lux diffs will handle a 253, your cvs will not even handle a 18r if driven hard, upgrade cv's to longfield 30 spliners

Make sure you get lockers( propper lockers not auto lockers) buy longfield cvs and axles for the front. The rear you can buy a kit and convert to fully floating( like a cruiser)

friend has an old hilux, has the v8 motor out of the lexus 100 series.
HAS given it absolute hell, he pulled the diff apart and made sure the crown wheel and pinion had full contact, and hasnt blown the diff yet or even a axle and his running 33 muddies 15 inch rims.
set your diff up properly and no troubles.

Have a Ford 5.0 & auto in the Surf with std diff in the back + ARB. Have not blown it yet with 36's tho the auto will be easier on the diffs.
It still likes to chirp 2nd gear regularly (with 36's as well)
