headlights ?

hi, i was wondering if anyone new what sort of headlight upgrade you could do, as you would know the standards are crap.
Have spotties but want to get low beam better as well.

Also moving to townsville in a month, where abouts is the good wheelin up there, and whos up there

i upgraded to semi-sealed lenses in my drover. as well as upgraded globes it only cost me a bit over $100, it was a huge improvement over the old sealed lenses.
just don't submerge them in water, cause there not exactly completely water proof. as i found out one night :oops:

You can also try wiring in a relay, (dont forget about the negative switching in sierras) .
All we did was wire it up so relay plugged into std light plug and worked alone, that way if it dies u can just unplug and conect back to std to get home. Made about 30-50% improvement with 55w bulbs.

There are some really good tracks some of the best are right here in town.

I'm moving from albury region, i've gone on some good trips here. I drive a SWB 85 model with the standard big tyres, body lift, stage 3 rockhoppers. standard motor at the moment but an upgrade is always on the books :lol:

If you don't know negative switching is, don't try to improve you headlights yourself - get a pirhana(spell?) or arb headlight loom.

not planning on doin it myself without help, just trying to expand my knowledge. besides, i'm sure i'm not the only one that doesn't know what it is...

negative switching = your lights have + power to them all the time but no ground connection to complete the path , when you hit your lights instead of giving it + voltage it simply gives it a ground to complete the circuit .
if you put a voltage light or multi meter on any of the three terminals they are all live without putting your lights on .

i could be out but i think thats how it goes

Pretty sure your right. The power is constantly to the light, but is "switched" on the earth wire.
