Re: Oil cooler lines on TD42
The easiest way is to get an adapter plate that screws on where your oil filter goes and then your oil filter screws onto that. It has two hose outlets on it so you can plum an oil cooler straight onto that. The good thing is that it gives you extra volume as well so the oil already will run a little cooler before you even run a cooler.
Just remember to check the oil level after you fit the cooler and top up.

A sandwich plate you mean?
The TD42 has 2 oil filters so which one should it go on?

Re: Oil cooler lines on TD42
Doesn't matter which one. The oil goes throught both of them. From memory I think mine was on the rear filter.

Re: Oil cooler lines on TD42
i read a thread on a forum about patrols, looks like oil coolers are near on pointless, something to do with flow, no easy way to make oil go through cooler unless you go remote filters or something like that
Re: Oil cooler lines on TD42
depends on which model. if both filters are the same then they are plumbed in parallel and most of the oil will take the path of least resistance, if the filters are different (certain models of GU) then I dont know.
Re: Oil cooler lines on TD42
What about 2 sandwich plates, one for either filter and plumbed into the one line to the cooler? Surely that will work, then it will be flowing from both sides at all times.UNLUCKY wrote:i read a thread on a forum about patrols, looks like oil coolers are near on pointless, something to do with flow, no easy way to make oil go through cooler unless you go remote filters or something like that

You're welcome to drop in and do the work here. I'm sure that with two people doing it that it'll be fine. I only have a few bottles of rum and some vodka to drink though.

Re: Oil cooler lines on TD42
why not remote the filters at the same time? they are in a stupid spot anyway.
Buy two remote oil filter kits, you want them for fords. they have the same filter thread.

Re: Oil cooler lines on TD42
They are in a ridiculous spot, but remoting them will be a massive $$$ exercise. I can deal witht he spot they are in for the sake of the $$$ required to remote them.MikeH wrote:why not remote the filters at the same time? they are in a stupid spot anyway.
