300 tdi idle problem 1995 disco

okay all who are in the know i have myself a series 1 tdi300 i have put a seal kit through the injector pump cos it was leaking from the governor housing seal
now it has a bad hunt at idle of about 400 revs sits at around 600 revs and then jumped up to 1000 if you put it in gear it will drop back to 600 most of the time ,
It drives well though being unregistered i have not gone far in it to see what happens when it gets up to full temp will take it for a run to the servo tomorrow for that does any body have any ideas .

i can sit for weeks and still will start instantly i have been using it to move trailers around the yard as it has a good turning circle the diesel is about 6 months old and its been rather rainy here lately so i will take it to the servo for some more fuel and a run would timing cause it or the main fuel screw being out i measure the amount the screws were set at and fitted it all back as it was .
not to worried if i am unsuccessful i can always fit another pump but for the cost of a seal kit 25 dollars was worth ago

idles at 1200 constant when hot so i have backed of the idle while hot will see how it behaves when cold tomorrow
