35s or 37s best value comp truck tires?
Hey all,
Just a quick thread to discuss comp truck tires. I'm in the process of building a budget for my comp truck build.
What are you guys running? Where are the best places to buy?
I'm looking for tires, rims and beadlocks.
not sure if I'm going down the suzuki or the patrol path yet, so wanna keep my options open until I decide.
I don't need flash rims or anything like that, Just sunny's, beadlocks and a good priced tire for a first time comp truck build.

There is really no answer to that..... What's better, ford or Holden, toyo or Nissan.......
Different tyres will be better suited to different terrains, depending on the type of comps/terrain you are driving As well as the rig you end up with will help with a short list

37x12.5x16 comp compound treps
Re: 35s or 37s best value comp truck tires?
There are alot of options depending on type of driving, the treps are a great option especially in rock and loose stuff, which ever way you go there are alot of second hand sets of tires that come up, including treps for reasonable prices, if you get a second hand set and don't like them, sell again and try something else size/tread wise until you know what it is you want. Then maybe look at buying some shiny new ones. Just an option to maybe save a few dollars and also end up with something your definitely happy with. Worked for me, went through a couple of sets and found a tire that suits me.

Re: 35s or 37s best value comp truck tires?
It also depends on what comps you are planning on entering, For NSW, Willowglen will allow up to a 38inch tyre I think. Something like the 4x4Masters allows up to a 37inch tyre, again Im not sure.
Check some of the rules and regs for vehicle classes for the comps that you want to do, and use that as a guide.
From all the comp rigs getting about these days, Sticky Treps seem to be very popular. Creepy Crawlers are another good tyre.
It all comes down to personal preference for which tyre you choose.

37's for a comp rig.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.
Re: 35s or 37s best value comp truck tires?
Your in Sale. So guessing Victoria. In which case I would be looking for a 34" Simex or swamper for the zook or a 35x11.50R15 or 16 simex peds for a Patrol.

Re: 35s or 37s best value comp truck tires?
Like everyone has said, look at the terrain that your going to be competing on and the rules of the comp to point in putting 37 inch treps on if you can only run 35s and going to be doing the majority of the comp in mud and would be better with a set of JT2's or Peeds. I think the best idea is look at what the majority of the guys in the comp run now as more than likely they work.
Re: 35s or 37s best value comp truck tires?
Yeah all valid points. Was wondering if there was a particular tire that was prefered by most?
So far everywhere I read and look i see Treps. I'm not sure about what and how many comps run in vic, Maybe I should start a thread on that first.
If there was a particular tire tired that was used by most, then I was hoping that a member would know of a supplier, or a vendor on here.
You know, like a company that has bought bulk and is selling at a good price. Same with rims and Beadlocks.
I have got info off calaisturbo in the past and have found some awsome products at prices that just aren't available if your not in the know.
Like me paying $1000 dollars for a tuned length turbo manifold and it cracking and warping, and then finding out that a vendor on calaisturbo was making them and selling them for $800. When I seen the quality of the manifolds I just about fell over. Really nice work and couldn't believe the price.

there are alot of people running the sticky treps, they are very budget friendly even when purchased new.if new give Ryan a call at Fourbys in QLD and he can freight them and still be cheaper than anyone down there!
as for rims, you can go sunnys or dynamics depending what rim size you choose.

Re: 35s or 37s best value comp truck tires?
if you dont have the power to spin a 37. Then your better off with a 35 when it comes to mud. A 37 on an underpowered car are ok on a high traction surface.
