Superwhite vs Clear
I read a lot of information on the internet re blue bulbs, however I couldnt go past the superwhite look that these bulbs give off. I used to have in the clear 90/100. but they gave off a dull yellow like foglights. I figured that I needed a set of relays, but I came upon superwhite bulbs , which i knew very little about but people who used them to told me that they were better than regular bulbs. So i purchased a set and i was hooked. I then purchased a set of Hella inserts as one of the original set was smashed. The Hellas were a good improvement over the previous set, especially as the previous set was lhd. However based on pictures that i had seen i knew something was wrong. I put in a set of relays, which improved the brightness a lot. but somehow the pattern on other vehicles seemed better. I wondered if it was that cap in the middle that was causing the problem. I had advice to take it out but i was reluctant as i figured it was there for some reason. After reading Daniel Stern's page on blue bulbs and other websites, i still wasnt convinced. However I came upon this test http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/head ... dex10.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and i wanted to wait until the superwhites had done their time. Anyway last night i decided to put in a set of clear and viola!!! The difference was so marked. that i would never advise anybody to use so called "superwhitesL The clear bulbs werent brighter, but somehow they just gave off more light per area plus they were almost just as white. Highbeam was a lot different too as with the blue, it was like looking down a tunnel. With the clear the was a much larger area lit. Sorry for the long post though.
