It's done, at last! 2.6L turbo EFI...
Well, as the title suggests i've finish a turbo EFI conversion on my beloved 2.6L. I decided it after some trips where my mates with their 3.0L V6 were laughing at me and my poor 2.6L. The time for revenge had come! The big challenge was to make the truck with the minimum possible turbo lag and in this point the success is total. The engine has almost full boost from 1500 rpm and the transition to this, is veeery smooth!

Mmmm, very sharp eye, NJV6 . Yes, it has an intercooler large enough to do the job in our hot weather at summer (i believe it's the same there in Aus).
NCpaj, i don't have any more photos but i can take a few. Is there something that you especially want to see? There is a little work to be done i.e. the intercooler is not positioned correctly (it's placed in a diagonal position:) ) because i couldn' wait to get the truck on the streets.
I'm running about 8psi for general use -on and off road, about 4psi when i need something more delicate (off roads) and about 15psi when i feel the need for fun

so did you have to do/planning to do any cam, or internal work?
also you gonna go a bonnet scoop or are the temps ok?
mate a pic of the turbo would be tops, also hard to tell but are you still running the vicous fan or a themo fan

Ok mate i'll post a photo soon. BTW, the turbo is the key factor in these mods. For off roading there are no many models that can do the job fine (on this engine). The secret is the smooth transition from negative to positive pressure in the intake manifold.
- I didn't make ANY internal modifications (mmm... i can see your appettite growing... ). Not even the head gasket. I'll change it with a metalic type when is blown.
- Cam's? for now i don't want to change torque curve of my engine . I need the good low end because it's also contributes to the smooth transition i mentioned.
- Temps are ok with the insulating tape on the exaust manifold. Besides that, engine temps are highly depend from ignition maping and at this point i believe we did very good job.
- It's a thermo fan but believe me a clean radiator works miracles.
I wish i have a Magna intake manifold because now i use the old (moded)

looks like you have all the engine setup well and truly sorted
have you had to do or planning any gearbox diff mods- do they hold up to the power allright?

I know it's tempting NCpaj , i felt the same just a few days before i decide to start this project. Don't worry, finish your rebuild and as there are no internal mods, you can try it whenever you want.

What have you done to adjust fuel for 15 psi? Can the current injectors or more importantly the computer give it enough fuel to prevent detonation which will very quickly kill you engine?

With the most effective way: a fully programmable after market ECU that has beem programmed for my needs (in this case 15 psi )
Everything else is not ok. Many people believe that if they fit a fuel-only managment system and an extra injector they will do the job. That's ok for boosts about 6 psi but above that there is a need to change the ignition mapping -otherwise you're dead. The only serious solution is the after market ECU.

I am soon going to be turbocharging my 2.6L efi Paj. I just have a few questions.
How did you connect all the turbo oil lines? I was thinking of putting the pickup where the oil pressure sensor is with a T piece, but i am unsure on where to take the return line.
Did you drill n tap or weld a plug on the sump? By the look on your pictures it looks like you have taken the return line to the rocker cover, if so how did that go because i have been told that the return oil line from a turbo needs to be gravity fed

T piece into gauge hole is fine for the feed.
Return should be full gravity drain, you may need to spin the housings on the turbo to get your drain facing downwards. Yes weld fitting into sump. make sure it is above the oil level line in the sump.
Old matey here may have run the drain into tappet cover, but a pump would be required in the drain line, youre better off just tapping into your sump.

Actually his oil drain goes into the sump, you can see it in the last picture.
