Hilux front diff

Post by 4RUNNER_01 »

Hey, Been trying to research but having trouble finding the right info.

Just pulled my front centre out to find the crown wheel with a whole lot of teeth missing for the 3rd time lately.

My question is I have a RD132 ARB locker in my 90's hilux housing and want to put a high pinion 3rd member in the front diff, I believe if a get a 3rd member from a 90-97 landcruiser ill be right?

Anything i might be missing, will be buying a new gearset as I only wanna do this 1 more time

Cheers Scott

u could use a normal hilux housing and put a HP diff in it.. they are a direct bolt in affair..

But if u are looking for more width then u could go 80/105 housing or 78/79 housing I guess.

Yea I intend to keep the housing, just wondering if I can keep the locker and fit it to a high pinion 3rd member

yeah pretty sure they are the same man, but I think the earlier lux ones had smaller bearings for the carrier, a mate used an early lux one in his 105 but had to get some sleeves made up to suit the 105 bearings from memory.

Or just use 45mm rather than 50mm bearings?

and need the ring and pinion to suit.
depending what ratio your running, maybe cheaper to get one from the wreckers, more than likely the front centre has hardly been used.
