Can you weld an lsd?

Hey
Got the old navara over at the property and wanted to weld the diff up,im pretty certain its an LSD,can you still weld it up?
Ive heard you cant but then someone said they had done it.

Technically it is possible but wouldnt last. Do what n20 said and shim it till it locks up solid.

I had a welded LSD that lasted long enough too break an axle

Why would it not last? What would fail in a welded LSD that wouldn't fail in a welded conventional diff?

welded heaps of lsds in cars so don't see why you couldn't do it in a 4wd. all about how much access you have to get in there. sometime you will need to split the whole centre apart which sucks

Ended up pulling the diff plate off and could see the sun gears so i just filled it all up with weld.Took about half hour.

Why waste money on shimming a diff when its just a basher and the shims dont last long.
