replacement compliance plate
hey guys,
just hoping to find a contact to help out with my latest speed bump,
ive just about finished my build of a 45 series cruiser ( yes another one), i started my build up with a chassis from the wreckers which didn't have tub on it, so i couldn't get a compliance plate off it. my mate is doing the road worthy on it, but needs the plate to write one out.
i figure ill have a chat to toyota, but has anyone had to do this, if so who did you see and how long??
and if anyone works for toyota or QLD transport that could help me out,
cheers outers...

I can't offer you any help other than to be prepared to be accused of illegal rebirthing, theft, etc....loosecanon wrote:hey guys,

no way.....
do you really think so????
im in a fiber glass tub, and is "illegal" to remove the plates, so it's had to have been done before

Re: replacement compliance plate
Best bet is to go to QT directly and find out from them. Especially since they are the guys that will be saying yes or no.

Re: replacement compliance plate
well ive just had a chat to QLD transport on my lunch,
and they tell me they can make a plate up, (surigent plate, my spelling isn't very good) i just go to the cop shop they run there checks and give me a new VIN, who thought it would be that easy, and only cost $5.90
easy
cheers guys,

Re: replacement compliance plate
I just spoke to the RTA because the body I'll be using doesn't have a compliance plate either and its as simple as following the normal process. All that will change in NSW is that when you get your blue slip they will fill out a separate form that states there is no compliance plate.
Its a little easier for me as the VIN is based on the shorty chassis that I'll be registering rather than the GU cab that is missing the compliance plate. No extra cost.

Re: replacement compliance plate
Does your chassis still have a chassis number on it?

Re: replacement compliance plate
yea it does, i didn't have problems with engineers or getting the gas done, but the mechanic wants it there to write the road worthy,

Re: replacement compliance plate
In NSW we can't just get a normal pink slip. We have to get a Blue Slip which also involves the Vin checks so checking the VIN on the chassis is all I need.

Re: replacement compliance plate
but don't you have to check the engine and chassis numbers? and apparently we need it for the road worthy so we can put down the month and year it was made,

Re: replacement compliance plate
Good news you have the chassis number. I've only done them when I knew what the old VIN was, but without the chassis number you would have been buggered.
When we have the old VIN. We remove the compliance plate (if fitted) keep the build plate and they will issue a new VIN (used to be on a blue DOT mod plate) you also have to stamp the new VIN into the firewall. Not sure how you will go with glass as you can't stamp it in. But talk to the police you should be ok if you have the chassis number. Just got to hope the Chassis isn't a stat write off or stolen etc.

Re: replacement compliance plate
oh Sh*t scanas,
i didn't think of a stat write off!!!!!!!!!!!! now you have me worried again hahaha, i would have to be pretty unlucky to pick up a stolen chassis from a wreckers, but a stat write off is pretty likely..........

Not sure. I'm a motor dealer all of the ones I have done are stolen and recovered vehicles where we have the build plate for that? Sorry

Re: replacement compliance plate
I'm changing the engine as well so that doesn't come into it in this case and the chassis number is on the chassis. Its the chassis that the registration based on. I have rego papers for the chassis too. I just have to prove that the chassis has been registered for at least 2 years but a simple rego check on the chassis number is sufficient for that.

Re: replacement compliance plate
Ok guys,
ive made some progress on this and i thought it might be handy for any other queenslander out there,
so i have to make an application with qld and complete the form F1854, send heaps of pics and all the engineer certs, gas ect ect,
from here Qld Transport will check over the forms and get back to me in 2-4weeks, and may request that i take it to the Pits for them to check over (in which case i would be F..Ked)
the reason for this is because its a fiberglass tub it is classed as a body swap, and needs to be approved..
so atm its just a waiting game.... ill let you know how i go
P.S. i checked with OZeast and this is the same process they said they have to go through with all the Tubs.

Re: replacement compliance plate
I think the form F1854 replaces lots of the old stuff now. Would they not look at approving your tub on this new form? BTW is this ute you have posted pics of of a swb40?

Re: replacement compliance plate
hey scanas,
not sure if im reading your post correctly, but yes the F1854 form is what i have to fill out to have my tub complied, not sure about other things though,
my truck is a 45 series, and yea i posted up on wild 40's, its actualy a 45series chassis chopped down,
if this doesn't make sense blame the titty bar across the road from work ROFL,

Re: replacement compliance plate
Just a quick update for those interested.
Ok, so finally I have made some progress on this....
After sending the F1854 document through and multiple request for further information... which appeared to an "F" up by QT as they should have had all the documents available to them. ( this is because Ozeast is already complied with QT)
I have finally received the initial approved application form... Yay, well so I thought. I now have to get two more codes which is an L01 and a LH6. Im yet to do some reading up on it, but it's basic means that it complies with ADR and seems to be used on a lot of the import vehicles. Well I have that part sorted, as i have found an engineer to get this done, but won't be until next year obviously.
I then have to get a surigent (spelling??) VIN from QT and take it for an inspection at the local cop shop. Once that is done I then need to take it to QT engineers to inspect...
Summary is "Take the compliance plate off the vehicle before you put a fiberglass body on it." This has been a truely painful process and I would never do it again even if I new somebody in QT.
Oh and this is in no way to deter from Ozeast. Allan has been extremely helpful even making calls to my Case manager to sort out the paper work between themselves.
Well just thought I would let you guys now how it is going.
Cheers

Re: replacement compliance plate
Good to hear that things are still progressing. I'm going to make sure that I talk to the guys that will be doing my blue slip before I get there to make sure I have what they need. Hopefully it will be a smoother process. From chatting to the RTA it is reletively simple here in NSW. I do have the old rego papers from the chassis that I'm using so no worries and all the VIN check for chassis and motor are done as part of the blue slip. So as long as I have the engineer's cert along with the old rego it shouldn't be a problem. Fingers crossed.
Cheers

Re: replacement compliance plate
Is this all because it has no build date compliance plate?
l am looking at buying a 71 model cruiser and this plate is missing.
QT said 72 and later has plates but before it didn't so should be ok.
But the people who will be doing the RWC said it needed one or an inspection for a mod plate instead?
So i need to recheck at Qld transport and make sure.
Good luck with yours

Re: replacement compliance plate
Hi Matt.
Yes this is apart of the reason, I couldn't get mine registered because I didn't have the compliance plate. Now I am going down other avenues as I have a Fiberglass body ect ect.
From my understanding you will just need a Surrogate VIN. This is pretty easy from my knowledge. It's just a matter of an application Via QLD transport and then taking it into the cop shop.
But it is best to check with them. Their contact number 07 3114 5844. See what they want you to do, and if indeed the compliance plates only came out in 72
