Possibly stupid question. In order to avoid pulling diffs out to check ratios, I would like to consult my Hilux's build plate for the diff code.
However, I can only find a compliance plate in the engine bay. I don't see any empty holes on the firewall either.
Can anyone tell me where an RN46 usually has its Toyota build plate fitted?

Re: RN46 Hilux build plate; Where?!
Check the compliance plate again.
There should be a trans/axle code there.
That will tell you what diff ratios were in the car when it rolled out of the Yota factory.
Of course, all this means nothing if the diff centres have been changed to other ratios.
The best way to tell is by pulling the centre out and doing a teeth count, sorry to say mate.

should be able to rotate the tail shaft and see how many times the hub turns to calculate the ratio
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.

The plate should be next to the other one, possibly fell off, i know mine did but i still have it.
All RN46 and LN46 had 4.88 diff ratios as standard.
