Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
you should be able to get the old studs out and put them into the right spots. pretty sure the block has holes tapped for both.

Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
Yes you move the studs on the two cylinders closest to the firewall.

Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
Thanks for the link ay was realy good i saw the head had the other holes where you could change the studs but i checked mine and it looked like it actuly didnt have any other holes to move the studs ever happen or seen or heard of it befor ? thanks
Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
I'm told the early heads (before 85) didn't have the extra holes but if yours has the origonal head it will have them, they may have filled with carp over the years.

Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
Ok thanks for that bit of info cos mine is actuly a 84 ln65 so thats why mine dont have the holes to move the studs
Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
as far as I knew the 2 L MOTORS DIDNT CHANGE. it was the L Motor that has the head without extra holes.
My LN65 had extra holes yet the L motor I got at work doesn't. Double check you have a 2L Abd not. L

Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
the other thing is there is two different 2l's. different heads, ones roller cam the other not. i don't know if the manifold will fit the roller cam head or not.
Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
Can i just get a later model 2.4 head witch is the right one and put that on

Sweet ill do that
Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
if your going to change heads get a 3l head. its stronger than the 2lt/2lte heads.
Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
Hi, just want to know i bought a turbo kit off a 2lt bundera, i have an early model 2l (from what i believe?) and it definately doesnt have the extra stud holes, & the port spacing on the turbo manifold is different to the head. Can anyone confirm that the bundera manifold is different? or i have an L motor?

Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
Bundy manifold is the same, you must have an early head.
You can steal the head off the bundy or a later 2L/3L head will work.

Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
Can you put a 2.8 head on a 2.4 ?
Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
yes, its the preferred head on the 2.4. fitting the 2.8 cam and cam gear will help a fair bit to as it shifts power up in the rev range a bit.Blakes wrote:Can you put a 2.8 head on a 2.4 ?
if at all possible fit the complete 2.8
Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
ok awesome thanks mate cosin don a swap for a hilux was a 2.8 but has bottom end damage and said would give me the head if it would fit you 100% sure it will fit and be ok and enything special to do to fit it
Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
on the later 2.4's the 2.8 is a very common fix for the usual cracked heads.
the early roller rocker 2.4's i do not know much on so i don't know if anything else is different. i'm sure one of the surf sites will have the info.
if you can get the whole 2.8 then at least you will have a supply of bits if something else needs changing.

Re: 2.4lt turbo maifold on to a 2.4l
I had 1988 2L motor in a 1985 LN65 Dual Cab.
I put a Surf turbo and manifold on it.
The holes did not line up.
I sat the manifold on the head, doing up as many bolts as lined up.
The motor was still in the car.
Then using a shitty angle drill adaptor from bunnings, drilled new holes into the head. I new this would work as I had just done a motor swap and this vehicle already had the surf turbo setup on the 1985 2L motor I pulled out. The motor I pulled out appeared to have had extra holes fitted (from factory or not I do not know).
Anyway, so I drilled new holes into the side of the head.
If I remember rightly I put a bit of grease on the drill bit to catch any swarf.
The only problem I had was hitting a water jacket with one hole.
I put some sealant on this stud.
Everything was okay and the whole thing worked out great.
If you're considering swapping to a head with all the holes you may aswell give this ago. If you fuck it up you're no worse off.
This was the drill attatchment I used.
Cost <$20 from Cunnings.
