The Simex starts this Saturday 17th April in the Warburton/Poweltown area at 1.00pm and finishes Sunday morning. The tracks covered can be challenging, heaps of navigation and question answering. To make it to the end your vehical needs to be reliable, capable and well prepared. Keep in mind that both vehicles need to make it to the end.

Knock Hummer off, now thats a tough ask. Birdy and tent are teaming up so thats a posability, or the ATOC boys.

Will see after sunday.

Home again, shrek went fine no damage, but only completed half the event, had to pull out as we had some problems with our other team car, ripped front locker line off, bent rear panhard rod, badly leaking steering box, stuffed gear box only selcting 3rd and 4th gear and a burnt out clutch.

Was having a pretty good run to that point, had found most of the items required and answered most of the questions, also had the fastest time on SS1 when we went through and was up in the top 5 in SS2 also when we went through. O well there is always next year.

Known damage to cars we know when we left.

Birdy winch rope broken twice and turbo had to be rebolted onto the manifold at half way point.

Bevan either a broken GU CV or stub axle.

Jeff redman broken steering box.

Mat Sherwood our partner refer above. :x

Plenty of other carnage aswell, which will be posted by others im guessing.

I believe Juzza has some photos on film,
Joe.

A mixture of results for you then Drafty... Good to hear that Shrek survived what punishment you dished out OK but major bummer about your team-mates.

What does Mat Sherwood drive? Damn that is a list and a half of carnage  Was that an after market panhard?

Mat drives a GQ tray aswell, but his truck has been coping a hiding for some time now, it just shows the importance of maintenance on the trucks we drive and thrash around the bush, when under the stop watch it all comes undone if the setup isnt right. The panhard was a stock factory one.

We still had a ball and left the comp while a bit disapointed really satisfied that all the time put into the truck has proven itself well spent. This was the trucks first major extreme winch challenge style workout and Shreks performance and handling on the 2 timed stages when we were pushing seriously hard left us impressed, it showed that if we can get our act togethor as driver and navigator we should be competative amongst the big boys.

Joe, did Mark Hardman compete ?? His partner had to pull out and he asked me but I'm in the middle of shifting house.
Also did Henry Le Fevre compete he had the same problem as well and asked me to but I think Rocket Rod was going to be the second car.
I was spewin that about this weekend as I would have luved to give it a crack (now I've fixed the bloody tie rod breakage epidemic).

We also only did half the event, between beinging held up for about 1 1/2hrs for each SS, having to have hilux winched out of SS2 because of flat batteries (about 1hr), 3 air lines (1hr), another flat battery (1/2hr), going the wrong way in 1 spot which was about 1 1/2hrs longer (cheezy and acouple of others did this to) we lost around 6 to 7hrs  and didn`t get in off the 1st section untill about 8.30am  But I do know we got most of the questions etc correct for the section that we did, had a couple wrong but not many.

But we had a ball, I haven`t laughed so much and other than the one wrong way as meantioned above I didn`t get us lost at all  had a few times where I was that tired I couldn`t think proply and had to get another set of eyes to look at the track notes, gps and the map.

Oh and DAZ is about the worst navigational navi I have ever seen

As for damage
M Smithy broke his centre diff
N Cooper had major over heating problems because of a mud filled radiator
Sandy dropped his GQ on its side.
Heard of a few other bad things but can`t remember them ATM.

Think Hummer will get the top spot again this year.

Anyway dispite the bad run we had we had a lot of fun and did some cool tracks that we will be going back to soon.

Finished the event with the 4B's in one piece had to conserve it so it will be usable for the Nav-nites one night stand this saturday. Done some ace tough tracks in the nav stages and ss's. Answered most questions with confidance and achieved consistant times in the ss's. Helped some others with repairs and spares as there was lots of mech breakdowns's. Got a busy week to clean up, assess damage, repair and prepair for saturday's nat-nite. :)

Good to hear you finished the event, from what l heard only about 12 out of 28 completed the course.

Will see you on Saturday at the Nav Night where we will be with our regular Navrun partner whose car is still going.

All good.

Bit of mud in the radiator and the clutch in the Datsun. Repaired the air locker loom and also replaced a snapped control arm.

Hobbsy had one bent rim and mud in the radiator.

Great event.

Had password and new e-mail glitches hence new username.

Frank, Mark wasn't there.

Great event but it shows that vehicle prep must be 100% to be competitive even before looking at the guys doing the driving and navigating. This was my third Simex and i think the toughest one yet, we had a great time and i think we were fairly competitive untill our gearbox stuffing-clutch frying downhill adventure. Really pissed off now as i think we could have been up there. Have you heard anything from Matt about his truck Joe?
