GQ Mud flaps

Post by Jimbo »

I just got done today in Mansfield for no mud flaps. I have been meaning to get some but just haven't and this is a good reason to go and do it.

What do people use on their gq's when they have taken the factory wheel arch extension (and mud flap) off? My original mud flaps were ripped off and i no longer have them. A few pics would be good :)

I have a piece of angle mounted off the front hole of where the towbar bolts on, only the one bolt holding it on. Then just have a piece of conveyor belt rubber cut to shape and screwed to it.

Wreckers, GU bumper lights are the same.

If this helps ya, i did this with the front. Very versatile, i used a carabiner clip on the chain somif i want to tie them up higher so they dont get caught on rocks when in the rock steps and what not. I used a bit of flat bar bent one end at 90 degrees, drilled a hole so it bolts to the chassis, and the other end bolts to the guard. The rest explains itself. Jobs right.

As far as the wheel arch extension goes I bought some of the super tough black plastic garden edging and after some cutting/moulding to the right shape, screwed it to the inside of the gaurd. Gave a very strong and much wider flare to cover the 37's at the time. also didnt sag and look dodgy like some of the rubber ones out there.
