Looking at getting a 5 speed from a HJ60 1983 model for my FJ45.
Some questions, are the gearbox ratios from the HJ60 and FJ60 the same?
What is the spline count and outside diameter on the gearbox input shaft?
Will the HJ60 box fit straight into an FJ45? Sure the mounts will change but I am only concerned about mating it to the motor. Currently I have a 4 speed fitted.
A search is limited as my computer is broke and doing this from the phone is a pain.
Thanks.

Re: 5 speed into an FJ45 questions
Friend of mine has a 40 here, and I have a 60. The first thing I noticed looking at them is the 60 gearbox/transfer looks nearly 3 times the size of the 40. So just by eyeballing it looks like a PITA of a job just to get it in there. But I'm sure someones done it.
Mind you his is a 3 spd but the 4spd doesnt look that much bigger.

Re: 5 speed into an FJ45 questions
Yes it will fit but not a straight fit, all ratio's are the same apart from the overdrive 5th and the shaft size and spline count is the same on all g/boxes apart from the diesels.
I put one in my FJ40 I had too
cut a hole in the floor as the shifter is 50mm further back,
cut out the tube cross member for the same reason, others say they didn't have to,
lengthen the front and shorten the rear driveshafts,
fit a different rear diff with handbrake unless your using your t/case,
I had to make a cross member mount as mine was a early car with no cross member I think the original 4 speed cross member fits,
and you need a die grinder to cut a corner on the bell housing a bit i think it was the top left looking forward needs another small recess
