Engine Swap

Post by ToNkA »

Ok.

Need to know some Ballpark figures and info.

I have a 84 2L Diesel Lux.
Want to put in a 1ggze engine.

Just trying to sort out how long things take etc and what can and cant be done.

As I am going from diesel to petrol, what about fuel lines, pump etc..
Anyone done this exact conversion from a 2L to a 1ggze? I know some have done it from a 22R.

If I need engine mounts I am going to need to get them fabbed, I want to whack the engine in, but then electrics etc, I have no idea what I am getting into or how far over my head its going to be.

Any idea on costs, hidden things I will not have thought of that others found out?

Tell me stuff peoples..........

Although the 1G-GZE makes good hp and torque (see link) its still only a 2 litre.

Why not go for the 7M instead, better hp and torque and no supercharger. If you ever get water, sand or similar junk into the supercharger you would most likely kiss it goodbye

have a read:

I must say, the 7M looks like a smart swap- especially if you could get the turbo one. Been reading about one a guy put in a 4runner:

Tonka you got your heart set on the 1g-gze or you just saw it cheap? I reckon that a 4wd needs cubic inches more than screaming little engine.
