dual cab range rover starting issues

Post by Crazy_Courier »

Hey all,

Im having issues with my auto 3.5EFI 88 high line rangie not firing.

Whats been done to the rangie so far.
*dual cab chop
*chassis chopped by 3ft
*fuel tank relocated over rear diff
*New mass air flow meter, new dizzy & rotor, new spark plugs, new fuel pump, new air filter, new fuel filter
*New oil in motor, auto(new filter) and transfer case.

Was running fine before cab chop. When i reconnected the fuel tank plugs the fuel pump & sender didnt work. I have checked the relays and fuses on the dash and under drivers seat(all ok). So i just hard wired the pump to the battery to make it work. The engine has everthing to start. Fuel, spark and air, but still wont go.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Was the computer unplugged before you started chopping/welding? You may have fried it if you had not? If the computer is not energising the fuel pump relay then it may not know the ignition is on, or it may be immobilised (if there is an immobiliser fitted).

IIRC the only input the computer gets to know where the engine is, is from the dizzy. Don't know the exact wire though- perhaps start there?

i had the same thing swapping fuel pumps over

try disconnecting the return line and put a battery over the pump, run fuel through until theres no air left in the line.

mine was pressurising air but not pushing it through. the pump up for a few seconds when you turned the ignition on but wouldnt pump while cranking the engine
