King Of the Park Challenge

Post by manarandy »

We will be organising an exciting new event at Manar Park in Queensland this year similar in style to the Kings of the desert race overseas

To be held each year on the first weekend in October.

Manar Park has some of the most challenging and differing terrain in Australia and will provide a fantastic venue for an amazing weekend of racing, not only the toughest but the smartest 4X4, Tuff truck, Winch truck or Buggy will be crowned King of the Park.

Entrant fees will be kept minimal and if we get enough sponsors may be free.

Over 100 acres of camping and accomodation will be available

2012 date looks to be 29th Sept - 1st October (public holiday)

Stay tuned for more info as it comes to hand
This will be one not too miss!

hell yeah We are in! Manar has some of the best tracks in the country by a long shot. Some of the tracks Dave showed us years ago would be perfect for such an event.

How long would each lap he? Would there he multiple laps so that spectators get to see a fair bit of action?

And will the tracks be made wide enough to mak it possible to over take slower/ broken competitors at some of the more harder obstacles?

And is there any pics of what the park looks like and of people driving out there?

At this stage guys, you will be challenging and will not really have a dedicated course but two gps points that you will race between, allowing different types of vehicles to take their most suitable route, their will be multiple races and you will be able to get past slower vehicles. There will also be heaps of great specatator points on the many hills of manar overlooking the action, This is being designed for ultimate racing using your brains and specatator action.
one camping ground will be dedicated to drivers and crews at this stage.
There will be plenty of stages and some courses may be shorter and difficult, others longer and easier, will be a real mix.
More to come as it unfolds

Any more news on this event?
Is the format of racing set in cement? Are you having a pre run sryle day earlier in the year where you can get a few rigs to run the courses you have in mind for the competition day?? So you can guage time limits and see if any issues need to be adressed with it being to easy areas that will cause bottkenecks or anything like that?

Sounds cool, where do we nominate?

But being nitpicky, surely you could have been a little more original with naming given there's already a KOTR named race. Now there'll be KOTP and probably soon somone will have a race called king of the access road and king of the toilet block. While we're at it we could rename that other little jamboree "king of the tuff truck"

see where i'm getting at?

pretty good idea!! We could have a KOT# series!! ......
Any suggestions for their new name?

How did you like this format of racing Milo? Saw some YouTube footage of your car at KOTR when it was going! Looked like fun!

Hiya Mosko

Dude i feckin loved it. The sheer amount of seat time you get compared to a short course event is awesome, and going fast, well that shit just makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.

I had a bit of a look at some of the events being held up your way and some of those look real fun and similar. Although there seemed to still be a bit of string pulling going on (to borrow a contentious phrase used elsewhere here lately  )

Following the theme of borrowing names from other theatres of racing i.e. KOTR vs. KOT hammers. We could have the

Manar park dash
or choose a distance that is a appropriate to the number of laps and call it the Manar 100 or whatever it happens to be.
In my case it would be the "Manar busted my shit and left it on the side of the track while i got pissed for my bucks party 500"

Link to mentioned footage please :D

Edit. Never mind, found the 1.3 seconds of footage of my car running

Sorry to get your hopes up mate, but it was about 3 seconds long with you driving along a bit of corrugated road :D

Yes we are a bunch of pulleys up this way, but there's plans for a few more non winch/ minimal (terrain leaves you no choice) winch style events! but for now being full time string pullers is great fun!

With this Manar event being on Multiple stages/tracks it should be great for spectators ecspecialy if multiple stages are run at the same time in the gorge! what willyou race if the cruiser is sold Milo?? Or is it all hush hush? :D

I actually don't mind having to winch truth be told, but i kinda prefer it as an option rather than courses designed where it's impossible to drive withou winching. Having only had a PTO for so long it's ruled me out of WTC just on line speed issues. Pull's like a teen who's just discovered orgasms but not real fast :D

I'm in disussions with another red/black livery truck owner to erm........borrow his car should the cruiser be sold. Actually the discussions revolve around me begging, pleading and offering first born sons to have the hot seat and not navvy.

It's a time issue really, have to get the tow rig built before i can build the next one. I wouldn't say hush hush, but until i can get the driveline purchased and sitting on the garage floor i won't be posting anything. I will say that there will be NO jap or OEM parts on it ;)

Ah hell, listen to it talk.

Shouldn't you be off wheeling somewhere? Oh wait, you don't HAVE a rig, you've got a pile of bits sitting on the floor. Shouldn't you be building it? Oh wait, you're a broke ass, unemployed bum now. Shouldn't you be off pimping your asshole on the street for food and rent money now? :finger: :finger:

Sorry about the delay in replying guys, we have been busy finalising details for the event, We are about to have ready entrants and sponsors packages and they will have a lot more info, The terrain is incredible, with various stages, their will be stages where the tuff trucks might dominate, stages the winch trucks will dominate and some offroad buggies will do better, but overall everyone should have a fair run. Vehicles will be set off at timed intervals and a short period for maintenace between stages,. Still finalsing track and prize money, but money should be pretty good and their will be a river run and gorge run and if we get enough interest a night run.
We do need sponsors so if you know anyone who can help let us know, and entry will be free to competitors if you register before 1/6/12
you can register interest in competing at andrew_manarpark@hotmail.com and we will get packs out to you asap.
You can also check out more about Manar Park at http://www.manar.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks everyone,

If enough people want to do a shake down and can organise yourselves we can try and set a date before the event!

We will also need officials and marshalls on the day so if you are interested contact me as well.

Thanks
Andy
