Mate, if this thing is going to be a wheeler, ditch the manual and go auto. I drove around with Rob in his 75 with auto/304 and i tell you it's soooo much better for crawling, drving in sand, whatever. So much more control, smoother.

I used to hate the idea of an auto for wheeling but i'm converted.

If it's a daily or a semi tourer then sure keep the manual.

X2 for the Auto, I used to feel the same as Milo, but after having the auto in the 80, I wouldn't have a manual again in a "toy" 4WD
It's one less thing to think about when negotiating tricky tracks adn is a lot les stress on your drivetrain.

I've done alot of mucking round on my VN V8 in my fj62, so while not quite the same, I can confirm a few things.

-I'm running the factory radiator, with EL twin thermo fans, chopped to fit, it keeps cool on a hot day on the dunes, no problems, just need a good fit on the rad
-A Vl and Vl turbo fuel pump is the same thing. A Vl pump is fine, I'm running a gravity feed VL pump outside my tank (no lift pump) and got a smooth 220rwhp, you wont be making anywhere near that power in a stock 5L, so no way you need a bigger pump.

Any other questions regarding wiring or anything else that overlaps feel free to ask, I can grab photos or whatever aswell, I've had my whole engine harness stripped back and went right through it, so I know how it all goes, and its not hard to wire up the check engine lights, tacho, and get it in diagnostics mode if need be.

good luck with it all.
