I have a 2001 GU with a ZD30 motor mated to the 4 speed autobox. I'm getting tired of the general unreliability and fragility of the ZD30 motor and I'm thinking of getting a TD42 from a wrecked GQ. Now I have some questions:
Is this a difficult swap?
Will my transmission and transfer case mate up to the TD42? Or will getting a TD42 with tranny and transfer case make things easier?
Will I have any wiring harness problems?
Anything I should look out for or modify?
Any good online resource regarding this matter?

Have a search through the various builds over at the patrol forum. If you do your searching and ask the right questions you will get the answers you need. It has been done by many people.

as the td42 doesnt come with auto you'll have to change to a manual gearbox to run td42
you'll need a few bits and pieces like accelrator pedals etc to work with the td42
