Round 1 ARB XWC - 17 - 19 February - The Springs (Qld)

Re: Round 1 ARB XWC - 17 - 19 February - The Springs (Qld)
All done and now just waiting on the gang to get here.
If you are not aware Paul & Nathans truck ended up written off on the way up to Round1 on the Expressway, no one was hurt but comp truck & trailer totaled. This happened due to a tyre blowing out on the trailer.
Take care on the way to The Springs everyone.
Sunny day and just a slight breeze. Cool rather than hot.
Cheers
David

Bugger Dave, that's not good but you have said that no-one was hurt so we can be thankful for that at least.
Best of luck to the guys for the future.
See ya tonight.

Re: Round 1 ARB XWC - 17 - 19 February - The Springs (Qld)
Well just after midnight and here is the first update.
What a week to start with. 13 starters at the begining of the week and we started with 9 and SS1 saw one motor not want to play, so Aaron & Steve had a great start to the Series.
SS2 was a bit kinder with Cam & Col playing turtle again at the winch wall and having to be recovered, both were still laughing whilst upside down.
SS3 was a double winch with TJM Tamworth making a wrong turn at the top and getting stuck and having to winch backwards resulting in a DNF for being overtime.Winners for SS1 was Greg & Adam in their Polaris, SS2 was Dave & Pat "ARB Tamworth" in their Patrol and SS3 was won by Dean & Josh in their Patrol.
Tomorrow has 5SS
Cheers for now

Re: Round 1 ARB XWC - 17 - 19 February - The Springs (Qld)
Well Saturday is well & truly over. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as the Xtreme crew, the string pullers really had to work and did a great job.
SS4 - Sprint SS following strip bunting, what can I say, apart from people have to follow the course and not the car in front. Won by Cam Gale & Col Warneken
SS5 - Run with a punch & change of direction again by Cam & Col
SS6 - The water fall run, Dean Wood & Josh Kal were able to put the truck on its side on the second climb, after a tricky recovery we were back up and running with Rod & Russell Rathbone taking the honours on this SS.
SS7 - The not so easy one, resulting in more then a couple of DNF's and Cam & Col playing turtle again. This was won by Dave & Pat Burrows.
SS8 - up to 5 winches in this one but most did it in 3. The highlights were the 2 drives on the first wall by Emily Taylor & Katie Irland as well as Dean Wood & Josh Kal, they were both very lucky to not go over. Both managed to complete the SS with 3 winches. This SS was won by Cam & Col.
Saturday night saw another great dinner provided by The Springs, thanks guys.
Sunday will see 2 more SS then home.
Scores so far:-
Dave & Pat Burrows - Toyota - 739
Rod & Russell Rathbone - Toyota - 729

Last 2 SS for Round 1 ARB XWC who is going to be at the pointy end?
Russell/Rod or Dave & Pat these guys are fighting for 1st place and the first looser with only 10 points between them.
Then we have Cam/Col fighting out for third with Greg/Adam in the Polaris with only 2 points between these guys.
We will know well & truly by lunch time.
Stay turned.

It was a great w/end, many thanks to everyone involved. The top 2 fought it out till the last second and both deserved to win, but I think it came down to Superman Pat and those now famous SUPERMAN shorts. You better have more clothes on at Manilla Pat or it will be Small man. hee hee hee !!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to all the place getters and best of luck at round 2.

Re: Round 1 ARB XWC - 17 - 19 February - The Springs (Qld)
Well what a great start to the ARB XWC. Even if the numbers were down, it truned out to be a great weekend for competitors & spectators alike.
Many thanks to the officials who helped out during the week and the event weekend, with out you it would not happen.
Also I must congratulate the competitors for making my job easy on the weekend.
To those that have never made the trip for a weekend away at The Springs, you do not know what you are missing. So make the most and go and visit.
Congratulations go to Dave & Pat "Superman" Burrows for a very deserved win, and to runnerup Rod & Russell Rathbone, if only Rod had not got lost a few times, results would have been even closer.. These 2 Teams had 10 points between them up to the last 2 SS and it was full on from these guys as well as the other Teams for the last 2SS. Third place went to Cam Gale & Col Warneken, these guys would have been closer if they stopped playing "Turtle" twice over the weekend.
The rest of the Teams were a sight to watch over the weekend with some great runs being recorded.
To our first ladies team, great work girls, Katie for the first time out there was taking all the advise given and putting it into action over the weekend.
Greg & Adams Polaris finished the weekend for the first time, it is amazing what a good winch can do. Greg driving was top class all weekend and Adam learnt very quickly how to play winch bitch, he will be one to watch in the future.
Aaron Ward & Steve O'Donnell did not fair very well with the old TD42 pushing out more water then smoke from the exhaust on SS1. Barbie is up for a rebuild.
Dean & Josh were always there over the weekend but SS6 saw their downfall when due to "The Rush" saw Dean go over on the waterfall. DNF
Graeme & Josh will be a force to stay clear of when the new motor & turbo go on. Josh is hoping that the vehicle will survive so he can take over the steering part next year.
Chris & Chris in the Buggy were doing what they do all weekend, putting in some good drives on all Stages that they went into, but it all came undone on SS4 Saturday morning when the transfer case adaptor shaft said I am not going to play anymore. So the rest of the weekend was spent in R&R mode.
