As the topic says, I'm curious as to the weight of most winch challenge trucks, I know all will be different so best would be people with winch trucks post up ya weights!

ours fully loaded with tools,spares and fuel would be about 2.5t at a guess.thats a gq extra cab,i should say was a gq extra cab as of last week its a bit flatter now after a misshap on the freeway

My old GU was 2350 without any of the gear on the tray but that was before I changed to carbon/kevlar panels and doors and also changed the tray design. It would have lost at least 150kg

Mine's not winch challenge style, but with exo, me, full of fuel, 37's and all ready to go wheeling it tips the scales at a porky 2800kg

The Lux I am building we are aiming for below 2500kg race ready but sprung weight is more of the concern as the diffs & links are beef & no weight watching was done in those areas.

my 105 looks more whinch challenge but is more fat pig. It weighs 2870kg with full fuel, tools and on 40's, internal cage with no driver (160kg) those dual transfers must weigh heeps

My GU had all steel panels High mount on the front and a lot of chunky tube work. With no spare and no gear on the tray but with pretty much full factory tanks it weighed 2350kg. The kevlar panels saved easy 100kg and then changing the bar work to just a very simple tube tray I saved at least another 50kg. Probably more.
One thing to really think of is weight distribution. Put as much weight over or behind the rear axle that you can so try and mid mount your winch and put your spare at the rear. Some people make sure their fuel tanks are at the back as well but it will only make a difference when it has a decent amount of fuel in it. The other things are a constant weight. Your engine is very heavy and sits forward over the front axel. If you can move your driveline back then that makes a big difference to balance. Trim as much weight from the front that you can.

My Defender 90 with full cage, 2 winches (himount and xp), barwork, tube front end, 35's, underdrive (second transfer in effect for non LR people) etc etc weighs about 2100kg with fuel.

The PIGLET (Blue Daihatsu cab) when loaded for Outback Challenge including spares,food,ground ancor,driver, Navi ect weighed in at 1729. Skiddy (the navi) was lucky to have weighed 30kg's when ringing wet, but he ran like a rabbit crossed with a mountain goat.
the truck was basically a surf chassis (cut down heaps) surf rear diff housing (5 link un-braced) bunderia front diff housing (3 link un-braced) alloy V6 & auto, alloy tray that was cosmetic (the spare tyre that sat on it weighed more) minamul cage, no major external bar work (no bull bar, sliders ect) radiator rear mounted, batteries rear mounted (over rear diff)under spare tyre to even out the weight of the truck.The cab was a Daihatsu Scat ute & then later a Feroza Extra cab(but it gained weight as a Feroza due to braced GU diffs added) as the SCAT anything that could be CUT OUT OR UN-BOLTED for less weight was . demisters ,heaters, sterio, dash & bracing, door glass & door internals ect ect all removed.
The way it was geared we could get 130klm out of low range before it hit the rev limiter.
That truck was the most fun I could have with my pants on.
My son & I are looking for another Daihatsu to build into a dad & son toy (not to be raced)

Hi Evan my old rangie went over the scales in full race trim @ 2340kg with 2 blokes in it & i weighed the tools /spares as i removed them from the truck there was 100kg of shit
both Cam Gales GU ute & Col Warnicans old Gq ute were weighed on the same day they were both around the 2950kg mark with 2 blokes in each &some tools

Got a good idea on weight of the Shortmans Winch Lux & ready to roll minus tools it came in just over 2.5T.
This includes spare tyre, sand anchor, hi-lift, fuel & fluids.
Not included is tools & yet to be finalized spares & not sure if 2 people were included.
Rear coilover weights I Was pretty close but front needs more going by what Criddy put under it for me. I was expecting 300lb + mains but Criddy only had 300's in the shop. I was thinking 350's but probably going to need 375's.
Overall I am happy as I have over engineered in some areas of protection but would have liked to have been closer to 2.4T.
The big killer with Micks is the weight of the diffs which together would be close to 100kg heavier than normal. We are also running custom driveshafts with both heavier than normal, rear not so much but front is nearly solid 1.75" dia. (awesome work by Steve & the guys at Universal Driveshafts)
Some broken down weights while I was building
