How much for a 1hdft?

As topic says, I'm in the market for one of Toyota's finest. It will be replacing a 200k 1hz in a 98 80 series, with H151 box.

Best price so far is $9500 for an import engine. I know they are great motors and all, and are reasonably rare, but this seems a lot of coin for a 15 odd year old engine.

Also, what items other than the engine do I need to budget for?

Try and buy a wreck of a HDJ79R (less immobilser and electrical stuff than HDJ100R) and use what you need and sell the rest. Could work out cheaper.

$9500 plus all the rest of the stuff for the conversion seems like a lot of money to spend on an 80 series. What about turboing the 1HZ with a mild kit?

You can buy a VDJ 76 / 78 /79 for around 45k tip the money you where going to spend on the 1HD and sell you existing car and finance the remanding 20-25k and you'll be laughing. Just a thought.

I noticed the 2 valve versions go for around that coin... there is an import guy selling 1hdt's for $6500, 1hdft's $10 000.
