1VD-FTV adaptability

Post by KingOffTheRoad »

Does anybody know if adapting a H55 gearbox to 1VD engine is possible?
1VD bellhousing looks totally different from the outside, and doesn’t appear to be an easy task.

Is the bolt pattern of a 1VD the similar to the 1Hx series, enabling the use of a 1Hx bellhousing? Starter motor positions could be an issue here.

I presume the 1VD uses the 300mm clutch with 14 spline shaft from the 1HD-x (to mate with H151) making the use of the Isuzu (or custom) clutch combination necessary

Could a H55 bolt to a 1VD Bellhousing given the correct clutch setup? The 1VD bellhousing appears to be quite long.

I’m doubtful of all of the above, but am throwing it out there anyway.

Probably possible, but why would you? Box wouldnt last to well. Much better off using the box it comes with, H151 or H150 cant remember which. Same box used in 80 series and many 70 series.

Depends what it is going into you would also need to use the 7X's transfer box as the input/output shafts are different. If it were a conversion i would use the engine, gearbox and transfer out of the 7X series
if ya gona rev it, Chev it
