How much of the window do they have to actually cover? And can the mounts and latches be made or do they have to be brought?

Apparently cams says from the steering wheel back. Now just got to sort out a way to mount them

Again you need to see what events you plan on competing in, tuff truck, toperi etc runs under ccda not cams so you could be looking at the wrong ones!
Realstically you want to be covering as much as possible and not mounting to the door, it's only YOUR safety at the end of the day

Mate, you're really not reading what is being typed for you. Firstly for us to give you info you need to tell us the type of comps you plan to compete in and then we may be able to steer you in the right direction. The CAMS regulations may not cover what you're planning to do. It really is class and event specific and it is a written rule. Don't fool yourself just because you haven't looked in the right place to find the answer.

Mate I've done as yous said I spoke to a scrutineer for CCDA which Is what I will be running under and they where his words.

3.6.2 WINDOW NETS
Unless required by supplementary regulations, window nets are not compulsory in Group A
Events.
Whilst competing in Group B and Group C Events window nets are required to be fitted to the
drivers’ and passengers’ window aperture. The nets must cover at least 70% of the opening and
be readily opened from the top from inside and outside the vehicle. The nets maybe of the “string”
variety with mesh size no greater than 50mm x 50mm.
The location of the net is optional and it may be fitted to the window frame so as not to inhibit
egress.
Window nets shall be properly fitted during all Stages whilst the vehicle is in motion. Window nets
may only be removed when crossing deep water

Thanks mate I missed the 70% and sorry for being ignorant. I just reread my copy of the rules and saw it straight away.

Good to see that you're talking to a CCDA scrutineer but either he is being vague about his knowledge of the rules or just lazy and it while its good that you asked the question on here before going ahead and spending the $$$ on the mods but you really need to pay more attention to the advice that is being given to you instead of just blowing us off. We won't be so fast to help next time. You may think we didn't help but we're not here to spoon feed you but we can get you to look properly. So next time eat a bit of humble pie and don't just blow others off that have much more experience than you do. Thats what this forum is about. Passing on the experience and knowledge of from those in the know to those that need the info.

One last question. Has everyone just brought mounting kits or made them ?

Was thinking this design but with two sprung bars so the whole net can be removed easily

Having them fully removable is good so there not in the way for social wheeling.

As I said before you need to look at each comp you want to do, 70% is ccda but each event can have supplementary ruling eg tuff truck it says you must have the minimum of 70% BUT no gap from top of the door to bottom of net.
Also seen somewhere that they wanted mountings to be in the A and B pillar so if the door opens the net will stay

Thanks mate my only thought is with mounting them on the pillar is it would be hard to get in and out quickly. Also I'm hopeing my nets will cover about 90 %. And I'll start gathering some info on comps just to be sure

Mounting on the pillar doesn't seem to slow us much, I've never ran them on the doors but again if comp says no door mounting then if you have already mounted them on the pillars your laughing!

Do you duck under them or unclip them to get in and out

Unclip the bottom mount and push It up as you climb out.
The rule says it has to be able to open from top but doesn't say you can't use the bottom

Thanks mate. I'm thinking mounting them to the cage might be the best way. What do you think ? Or would the body work be better

mount to door frames if running full doors

mine are held on with 4 tek screws at the bottom and three velcro strips around the door frame at the top. good enough for CAMS.

Sounds like you can't remove them with out opening the doors. So it wont pass CCDA I think

the velcro overlap is to the bottom with single layer part of the velcro in the door shut, you can open them from inside or outside without opening the door.
works good,
they have to withstand a certain force from inside, I think its 25 or 50kgs,
