gu 4.5 fuel consumption

Post by Marcin »

Hi I keep on reading 18l per 100km fuel consumption from people, but I get 32l of LPG per 100 km on LPG no mater how I drive, and towing a caravan I achieved 50l of LPG per 100 km. Is it me, my driving style , my car or people twisting the truth?

That seems a bit steep, I average 26L/100km on LPG and about 30L/100km towing my 900kg camper. I don't drive slow but I don't thrash it either. I get about 20-22l/100km on petrol.

What size tyres do you have, how much weight are you carrying?

auto wont help
with my old tb45 when i bought it, it was stocko apart from bullbar and towbar and i got 16l/100km on petty round town taking it easy, highway about the same.
put gas on(mixer type), 33's, work rack, draws, 2-3 inch lift and just about every fill on gas was the same 24l/100km town and 20-22l/100km on highway.
nothing i did made it better, bigger exhaust, air filter etc
some guys report getting stupidly good kms out of there gas, but i guess there are some freak engines and or they have had the head shaved, ported etc iv heard that helps.
didnt help me lol had the head off to replace the timing case and had the head done up and didnt make a difference!

yours does sound worse then most but get a tune and check the A/F ratio with the exhaust probe and make sure its running correctly.

the tb45 are what they are and use lots fuel hence why they can be had for under 10k.

I have direct injection gas system on my auto. I get between 350 -390kms out of my 90L gas tank. Not sure how that works out at litres per hundred.
Have 70L fuel tank and i think I get about 300kms out of that. I think. My wife drives it most the time. I just get the fuel bill.

It has 4" lift on 33's. Bar, sliders, roof rack and fridge in the rear doesnt help.

Just had extractors and 2.5" exhaust fitted this week. The old exhaust must have been stuffed cause it's going heaps better now. Am getting the gas serviced and tuned this week so will run a tank thru it and see what I get this time around. I'm hoping for an improvement.
