Setup for Competition Use
Setup for Competition Use
Now that my zook is running again, i am looking to get involved in comps. I am really interested in competing in the night nav comps.
What setup would you suggest? It is currently a NT SWB.
SPOA, SPUA, RUF, HILUX DIFFS, etc???
Thanks for the input

well a few extra horsies under the bonnet would not go astray, you probarbly dont need huge flex (medium flex would be OK ) some good rubber and good lighting ..
get a feel for what you will need before going out and spending mega $$$ on stuff that you may not use ..

hehe sorry for the jokes
but seriously, i was in navtrack (not navrun). it was a 12hr day time navigation competition. navrun is more professionally run and has rounds throughout the year. i was in standard class with my 1.3L widetrack, S3, 34 JTs, MIG rear. it was fun but very tiring. my shoulders copped it the worst after many straight hours at the wheel with 34s and manual steering.
to get into navrun with a hope of winning, you need: more hamsters under the hood, a good winch, and a good team (2 cars, 2 fit drivers, 1 or 2 navigators). big flex and big tyres aren't necessary imho. you vehicle must conform to CCDA rules and mods must be engineered.
but to have fun and gain competition experience, run what you have. if you want to start from scratch, get a 2 door rangie.

SPOA, SPUA, RUF, HILUX DIFFS WELDED TO CHASSIS, 6 WHEELS AND FLUFFY DICE
Thanks for the input
Yes do all these but no rears in the rear or rears on bonnet because if you roll over you'll bounce.
My advice is as sensible as the rest

the BIG:13L is for sale, well in parts, so if you want lower diff ratios and widetracks or simex centipedes, have a look in the forsale section. there is pics of it under redzook and germo at winch challenge in this zuk section.
the more you buy the cheaper it is. hint hint, buy it all.
