road legal lifts?
was just after peopls thoughts on lifts that are road legal
im unsure of what lifts are legal and dont need engineering . i no extended shackles arent legal but what about lift blocks, lifted springs ,body lifts etc..and what ones need and engineering .

I think Qld at the moment is 2" body lift can be approved. Up to 2" suspension lift on full chassis vehicles is ok doesn't need to be approved or 1/3rd of the bumpstop clearance on monocoque vehicles from memory.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.

Im in Newcastle,and am pretty sure 2 inch suspension and 2 inch body is as high as you can go,anything bigger needs to be engineered.I also know that lowering blocks are illegal,as i have witnessed this first hand so i assume lifting blocks are toomick t wrote:ahk im in nsw so might be different what about lifting blocks that go under ya spring pack

road legal in nsw atm i think is nothing over 100mm lift or 4 inchs in tire and suspension, cant' get 35's engineered and body and suspension lifts no sure on wat each engineer will aprove

my 80# cruiser was engineered late last year with 5'' spring left 1'' body lift and 35'' tyres with both sway bars in and a hand brake that had to stop the tyres at 20kmph it was also engineered for a duel cab chop and radius arm flip and high steer
toyota 80#,d/cab ute chop,6" springs,20mm body lift, 315/75/16 muds, and 39" michelin XML play tyres , turbo 4.2 1HZ top mount intercooler diesel.now ENGINEERED.

All the engineers down canberra way won't allow 35's to be engineered, cause they are all not sure on the new laws coming in regards lifts and tire sizes, and when the rta changes the rules even though it is currently engineered and complying to the rules now, when the rules change those lea=gal lifts become illegal until they comply to the new rules, happy to be proven wrong just what i have found

your cruiser must no be over 1200mm to the top of your headlight and it must pass a sway(swerve) test at 80kmph

I got 4 inch suspension and 2 inch body on 35's so that's 1inch less than yours so should be right once I put the front swaybar back providing the extra weight in the back doesn't affect it too much. Everything engineering in NSW has changed, There is the VSCCS system which replaced the old engineering system. The engineer I am consulting with and every other I have read about will only certify under the new schemes rules. In short you are all overestimating how much your vehicle can be modified before it requires certification, the new regulations from I can tell will be harsher but more clear cut.

Thats wat i was under the impression of, being nothing will be approved over 100mm in tires and suspension is wat they are saying with the new regs, cause thats wat all the engineers down here are saying

You can now (as of 26th April) get your body lift (full chassis) approved by an Approved Person who is Certified to do a K3. So no more taking to machinery for inspection.
You will find that you are allowed 1/3rd increase of your rebound bump stop, so a 2 - 3" lift will be ok on a full size 4wd.

Self engineered lifts ie not done by an engineer are, rim no wider that 1" from factory, lift no greater than 1/3rd factory ride height and tires no bigger than 15mm diameter, but in terms of getting it engineered there is no restrictions only one is wat the engineer will certify for you, NSW regulations have not been changed as many people are saying just got sent the current standards from the rta and they were last updated in 1994. So search for an engineer that will cover wat you want. So 35's 6" lift is still legal just have to find someone to certify it
