Wheels for hilux LN106R dualcab

Hey all what Just wondering what wheels people have used on hiluxes I was thinking of 80 series steelies 16 x 8 but was wondering if any one has done the same and how the offset fits.
Just wondering of any other wheels could be a possibility from other toyotas. I like tht the 80 series rims are 8" wide. Some thing with 17 x 8s would be good. I am trying to find the most cost effective way to replace the standard hilux rims.

Cruiser and patrol rims both ute and wagon work fine, but can actually be fairly expensive especially in 16's. 15 will be the cheapest.

I had 70 series ute steel 16s on my ln106.

Just don't make the mistake of getting ifs hilux rims, they are cheap but offset is all wrong and won't even bolt up.

As said if you would rather cheaper tyres and rims go a 15x8" rim which will suit most tyres for the hilux, looking at around negative 22-25 offset as a guide is not bad.

I run on my LN106 hilux 16x8 -25 offset on 315/75 R16 tyre (35")

As you said cost effective...go 15" rims, 16's are more expensive but still have a good range of tyres, 17" are limited rims and tyres and are expensive

You should be able to pick up Sunraysia wheels in a 15x8, for somewhere between $65-80 each for white, closer to $100 each for black.

Massive range of tyre sizes that will fit 15inch rims.
Landcruiser/Hilux offset is around -22.

About 2yrs ago, I bought a full set of 15x8 King rims new, with neg22 offset, white sunnys, cost me $400 for the 5 and that included fitting and balancing my 33x12.5 Swampers.

It is going to be a tourer for camping and exploring rather than rock crawling or comps or anything crazy.

I was thinking of sticking with metric 33" x 11.5" equivalents 295/75R16

My first thoughts were to go for 17" to get better road handling but as you said the tyres might be a bit more expensive.

I think a set of 80 series rims powder coated back would look good I have see them on gumtree and ebay for fairly reasonable prices.

Probably 2" body and 2" suspension to fit the 33s under or would I be better to go 4" suspension?

The 2 and 2 I would have though might be a bit more stable on the road but maybe 1 body and 3" suspension what are peoples thoughts on that?

16s are the go ATM. I feel more tyre choices for 16s. I would go 16x8 -27 offset. Bit wider stance and more glanced. To fit 33" should be able to get 2" suspension and 2" shacks (3" total lift) and clear 33s easy. That's what I clear my 35s with. For a tourer keep it as low and stable ass possiabke and as many OFF THE SHELF products as possiabke incase something breaks Easyer to get. Hold of

I had steel prado rims on mine years ago, don't remember what tyre size, but offset was fine.

EDIT - meant to say 10.5" - 11.5 will rub badly. -22 is the ideal but 0 can fit.
You can run 0 offset as long as the tyre isn't wider than 11.5". Wider than that and it rubs on the leaf at full lock.

I had -22 and my 33's still rubbed on the leaves at full lock. I would not go 0 offset personally.

too little neg offset and you will contact steering components before you can do up the rim, less stabile car off road etc etc.

My 11.5 33's sat a touch proud of my guards and my truck could basically sit on an angle against a dirt wall and my qtrs never got touched.

I personally doubt that in a 15 - 20 year old leaf sprung truck you will notice any difference in handling between a 15 or 16 inch rim. so put that back of mind.

Personally I would aim for 22 or more neg offset in a rim size and tyre which you can access at the right price.

I got 16 inch tyres as they were a bargain... then it took me ages to track down rims and they still cost me a bomb second hand, while i watched 15 inch rims being bascially tossed out. i could have bought new 15's cheaper than i got rusty 16's for.

Note that tyres will cost $100 to get them fitted and balanced to rims (assuming second hand tyres). so if you get tyres already on rims your a long way ahead.

Where are you getting your tyres fitted??
Id be going elsewhere.

Ive bought second hand 31x10.5x15 ATs, quite a few times, the most Ive paid is 60each, including fitting and balancing. The last set I bought cost me 40 each fitted and balanced.
