Gu/gq will fit. But will either need to flip the diff or flip the transfer or upgrade the transfer case to a patrol case as the nav cases don't last long on the hard stuff.

from what i can find the d22 has a 1525/1505 mm track width

in QLD your allowed to go 50mm wider on a beam axle legally

GQ are Front 1574mm Rear 1574mm to wheel mounting surfaces so if you ran some positive inset wheels you might get away with it.

Mud4b has gqs under his d22 in qld. Ive got a pic of mine in standard look somewhere I'll put up or look in my build thread. I had large offset rims on gu diffs and they didn't stick out that badly, bit of rubber covered them

if i remember mud4b did a body swap too which is now way to hard to pass in qld so its still down to 80series or sell it and try and find a 4.2 diesle wagon

80 series are wider again, over 1600mm GQ is definitly your best option

I think mud4b has a D22 Body on a GQ chassis.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.

Front diff pumpkin is on the wrong side. Tube cut and swap will be required. Never seen that done on GQ diffs. Possible anybody?

What is the SAS plan, coils or leaves?

Leaves, MQ will be easier. Not as strong, but you do not want anything bigger than 33" on the Navara drive train!

If you want GQ stuff, put the Navara cab on a GQ chassis!

If the D22 has the FS5R30 gearbox, wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to fit a box & transfer from an RB/RD GQ wagon? Saves cutting and flipping diffs around.

Check out the navara forum http://www.navara.asia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; there's a thread there that matches up what gearbox is a straight swap for a patrol.

In short, you have to measure everything very very accurately before you cut. in the end, you want to use the cut out between B2 and E and insert it in to the B1 cut.

The distances for A1 to B1 is the same as for E to A2.
Also the same for the distances between B1 to C1 and C2 to B2.
So the section B2 to E is what needs to move to the left hand side.

It should have the FS5R30 box. The QD32/ ZD30/ VG30/ VG33/ YD25 D22 engines all used that box. Same as RB30 Patrols/ Skylines/ VL Commodores, RD28 Patrols, (RB20/25 Skylines too?)
Nissan is pretty good in this way as heaps of parts are interchangable.

How strong are the rear diffs in the d22s? Would you bother changing both diffs or just the front? I have a set of 80s diffs i was going to look at putting under mine or would i be better off with gq diffs? Can i just get a gq rb30 or rd28 transfer and bolt it to the back of my factory gearbox?

It's not common that they have issues but not many get driven hard. Depends what u want to do. The rear is a c200. I changed mine out just to be safe.

Its my daily driver so im not out to kill it, would like the extra ability of solid front and know im not going to worry about breaking the rear. Im thinking only 33s anyway so stock rear will probably do but then i will have different wheel tracks front and rear. What box did you use Joshy?

Joshy used a GU Patrol gearbox and transfer, out of a 3 litre.
Unfortunately the gearbox didn't bolt straight up to the engine so I'm pretty sure he also changed the bellhousing.

Nah used the 3 litre bell housing n box but had to get a 3 litre sump and tap 2 holes in the block. With 2" body lift the box can be fit in the trans tunnel and above the chassis rails or Atleast flush anyway.
