Yes it is and must at least be the same diameter as the original body mount.

All bolts to be high tensile and use lock nuts.

I got my old 2009 lux through with Qld transport after providing proof that all sensor were body mounted, but still hear of people all the time saying it can't be done.

The Code states that the block must be similar diameter as the original blocks ( guess what that was my comment and advise back to vehicle standards when I was asked to comment on first draft of this rule) I am pleased that they took it on board.

So if the Hilux is 50mm then that will be ok, if not correct size must be fitted.

I got my old 2009 lux through with Qld transport after providing proof that all sensor were body mounted, but still here of people all the time saying it can't be done.

I have no problem as long as the sensors are not moved in any way.

Erm......Last time i did a body lift i simply sent in the appropriate form to the transport department and they sent me out the approval to go ahead and do it. In fact i've still got the piece of paper to prove it.

So now we have to pay someone to do what was free before? Awesome.

This isn't a dig at Mssr. Metcalfe by the way, just unsurprised that somehow the consumer ends up paying MORE for shit YET AGAIN.

Still used to have to pay. The letter from QLD transport gave you permission to install the kit. Then once installed you had to book a insection with QLD transport which cost $70. They would then inspect the bodylift installation and the rest of the vehicle to make sure it was a 100% road worthy. They even done brake tests on my 3 month old hilux.

Can you tell me when you got your letter?

If it were in the last 6 years, have a read of it and you will find it is your Approval to carry out the modification.

THEN:-

After doing your body lift you then had to book in with the Queensland Transport Department to have the vehicle inspected over the pits "Full Machinery" then machinery would stamp your letter saying it had been inspected and final approval given.

So in saying that it still cost you money for the Transport booking fee plus a chance to have your vehicle put off the road for other defects.

Sorry, I did not get to your post because you had already answered for me. I think when I took mine in it was costing me around $80/90 for every inspection, yes I had a few before they would pass my old truck.

I never got as far as putting in the body lift properly so i didn't need any inspection.

There ya go, learn something every day. I'd rather an approved person looking over the car at single modification than machinery, even if it's the same cost.

Yes the check will be to make sure the body lift is fitted correctly using the correct material and carried out in such a way to meet accepted engineering practices.

And yes better then a full machinery.

Installation of the body kit must not interfere with the Manufacturer's specifications or the continued compliance of any applicable Australian Design Rule (ADR's) applicable to the vehicle including the electronic stability control (ESC) system or the deployment of supplementary restraint systems.
The body lift must not exceed 50mm
All replacement mountings must be fitted using high tensile bolts of a minimum Grade8.8 with suitable locking arrangements and tightened to correct torque.
The vehicle's tyres, rims, steering and suspension components must not foul any part of the body under any condition of steering or suspension travel.
Body spacer blocks must be manufactured from a material of similar strength, diameter and durability as the original component. Examples of materials acceptable to the department are steel, aluminum or high density polyurethane.
A similar method of body dampening as supplied by the original manufactures must be maintained.
All applicable requirements of the K3 section of the National Code of Practice - Heavy Vehicle Modifications (VSB6) must be satisfied.
And fitted to the satisfaction of the Approved Person
