Hey everyone this is my first post on the forum, I just bought a 91 ln106 single cab, this is my first 4wd and Im interested in building it up so at least its a capable truck and I can run along side my mates who have pretty modified trucks.
I have been researching the forum nearly all day looking for answers because every one I seem to talk to gives me different advice.
Right now im running a new set of 32s and I like the size of them seen as the engine has been newly tuned with a new diesel pump and injectors so Im not gonna turbo it until it explodes.
Pretty sure this stuck is standard suspension with extended shacks and the truck scrubs on 32s when i flex so that should give you an idea of my situation.
What im wanting to know is what size suspension lift kit should i go from what I have read im thinking 2"? However I have talked to a friend that says Im better off keeping my sagged leafs because they will flex better than anything new?

2'' leafs from locktup 4x4 and a high steer kit should do the trick for the front suspension.
Then id go 2'' bodylift to clear bigger tyres,should be able to clear 35's and drop them well below the sill with decent length shocks also.
For the rear id use locktup4x4 leafs aswell as the springs are balanced to each other and provide awesome flex and stability,and some longer shocks.

It all comes down to how much money you want to spend.
Search RUF(rears up front), and IFS Rears.

if you have extended shackles then all you would need is 2" lifted springs to clear the tyres.
There is alot of brands and every one will have their own opinion.
Generally speaking aftermarket (if chosen correctly) springs will flex better even if new then old stock springs.
You are better off buying the suspension as a kit ie- 2" lifted springs front/ rear, extended brake lines, extended brake bias bracket, dropped drag link, adjustable torque rod, new u bolts, new 3" lifted shocks front and rear, greasable pins/ shackles. This is fairly normal stuff for a lift kit.
Try superior engineering or locktup4x4 both do great kits and are not bad prices (there are other places but these i have dealt with and have been great)
But there are heaps of different suspension combo's some like dudelux has said can be done on the cheap using factory springs but depends if you want to do it youself or just buy a tried and tested kit you just bolt up and have no surprises or trial and error..

I use to be able to clear 33" ryres with 2" shackles on standard sagged springs in my ln65. Cones down to rim offset. with 2" springs you'll easily clear 33"s. I was running YJ WRANGLER 2" shocks from ARB(nirtochargers) Abd they we're really well.
I just bought a 3" bolt in flex kit from locktup4x4 for my ln106 so we will see how it goes(haven't fitted it yet)

Goes IFS REARS but IMHO don't waste your time with RUF. It's a cheap mans flex kit. For the effort it involves you gotta go 3" weld in kit from locktup. Will let you know how it goes looks the goods and very simple kit as it's bolt in.

The other thing to do if you dont go rears up front is to move the springs forward on the spring perch (will gain 35mm) all you have to do is re drill the spring perch to fit the centre bolt through the springs and rebolt back down u bolts.
Also remove the plastic on the back end of the inner guard and there is a lip you can bend in, and give the guard a bit of a massage with a 4lb hammer and you gain alot more tyre clearance for a hefty price of $0..
