SCAT SPOA Conversion - Info Needed

Post by Truck Lux »

 SPOA conversion
Gday everyone, about to pick up what i believe is an F-20 its just a paddock basher so im not to worried about details too much.
Basically i want to do a diff swap, spring over and extend the wheelbase as much as possible and i just want to know what diffs people would use etc or any tried and true methods. * this is not gonna be used on road so it doesnt need to be engineered *

I was thinking using 60 series diffs with IFS hilux rear leafs up the front and do a shackle reversal.
Dont know exactly what springs il use in the rear ?? And also info on scat transfer cases , are they tough ? Would it be worth putting a different case in... I guess il have to lengthen the chassis front and back to fit longer springs.

The only thing im not cluey about is what im gonna do about steering cause il want power steering and high steer so any info would be great.

I have searched for info and found alot but i just want opinions or ideas basically. Cheers

I'dd go hilux diffs cause there small ish, you want to go high steer and the parts are readily available.

If memory serves piglet used a rocky power steering box and said it put up with the abuse of competing so that would be a goer.

The Tcase well they are cast iorn caseings and all gear driven mutch like an eiryl hilux case so seem pritty strong,I'm running 35's on my F25 ute and havent had a problem yet ;) all tough there was a member on here that had stripped one but I think he had a VG30DE out of a 300ZX in it and was wheel standing it when it happened

Hope that helps

also the scat tranny has the handbreak on the back of it like a nissan patrol, if you are changing the tranny think of the hand break as you might need to addapt 1 on some trannies.
if the scat trany isnt broken, why fix it/change it. they are not bad.
rocky powersteer box did go on with minor mods, I think we just drilled 1 extra bolt hole. That was easier than modding the chassis to coils.
