The 3.0's torque converter does not like the 6.5L chev diesels.
I'd hate to see how long one would last behind your donk.

I spoke to a fair few auto guys and they all reckon the 3lt is the best option as the torque converter is the biggest/best. the box runs 4 main cogs so to speak instead of 3. how much torque does a 6.5 spin up.? mine is about 1450 nm or lbs ( not sure of the form of measurement and dyno sheet is in the shed). did the 6.5s have good tranny coolers do you know.? will burn the thing if i have an auto drama..... they make a billet torque conv at wholesale autos but it was $$$$.

What computor did you end up running , is it the compushift one that they advertise ?? . if so , how do you find it . did you drive it prior to installing it , do you havd a before / after experiance ect .

I have an LS2 with a 3lt auto behind it with the Wholesale auto witht he nomad extreme valve body and lockup torque convertor . it's pretty good , but the Nissan Computor gets a little confused now and then and I think it could be alot better .

you feed back would be great .

Hi, I used the full standalone computer for the 4 speed auto compushift 2, it's really good you can program it to any shift patterns you want, you have so much control over the auto, plus it has the screen and shows you what's going on with everything, I'm very happy with it, motor and auto work very well together, I didn't even try with the original auto computer, do it once and do it right, is my moto, hope this helped

Sounds Good ,

I brought the Patrol with the conversion already done . but I was never quit happy with the way the auto shifted . To be able to tune it to suit the driving style would be great . I'll definatly be looking into the compushift 2 .

Thanks for the quick reply

mine is a 454 and the gu 3lt auto runs a stand alone computer. it is fully programmable, has a lock up torque conv and is also triptronic/fully manualised with a rocker switch for up/down gears as well as a standard drive in D dept. i will be fitting a gu shifter to allow a better use of the triptronic setup shortly. Steve from killa kustom kables supplied and fitted it as is doing a few others ATM as well. mine was a test bunny so to speak and he will just finish the settings for the auto but so far i am very happy. shifts harder and tighter than factory for sure, i am using the standard torque converter ATM with no issues so far.

it drives perfect as far as i can pick. I am by NO means an expert in the field and just went with the standard converter as the auto guys said it would be ok. i have never driven a v8 auto patrol before but everything seems good as far as stall etc. once it has proven itself i will upgrade the converter to the billet style from wholesale auto's. personally i love the auto over the manual on and off road, just makes it so nice to drive and quicker of the mark for sure.
