rebuild td42 with turbo parts or standard?

Post by bally »

I have to do a rebuild on the td42 as im 100% sure its coped a real flogging before i bought it and now its done its rings :bad-words: , have spoken to a diesel mechanics and was told that there is the option of rebuilding it with turbo pistons and heavy duty rods with a 1year unlimited klm warranty or with standard pistons and rods for $2500 less with no warranty.

im running a ht18 hiflowed at 15psi making 150hp. is there a need to actually use the turbo pistons and rods or do the standard internals handle this amount of boost easily, iv seen/read/know of people that are running boost around this area and higher on standard internals without problems though. what would you do, what are your experiences? I'm kinda leaning to using the standard internals option just based on price but would like other peoples opinions and experiences, if you have cold hard facts throw them out as well.

cheers

Hay mate is the TD42 an early model or a later model engine due to the earlier one were a stronger engine! If you can afford it put the turbo pistons and rods in for peace of mind.Cheers Rick:)
