D4D Injectors

Post by Ashy »

Have done a search and came up with very little.
I have a 2006 D4D Hilux that is rattles when cold, I mean rattles really loud, it is starting to use a bucket load of fuel, last trip from Mt. Hotham to Melb. used the 80ltr sub tank.
Have heard some horror stories about the injector seals leaking as well, and clogging up the oil pick up screen.
It's only done 39000 ks. so throw away is not an option.
Any body know of a reputable diesel work shop that can carry out the repairs.
I wont be back in Australia until early June, so no big hurry.

Ashy.

I read about this problem the other day. There's been a recall in Europe but not here. Seems to be a potentially engine killing defect.

Need to know your location to recommend a workshop.

I remember seeing something on here a while ago about the injectors going on them because they are fragile and we have crappy fuel here.

I think it might've been in gen tech though. Have you searched there?

i have heard of people on here or my swag, going through insurance when picking up bad fuel.

i also read a family in a patrol did the simo, with the 4wd action crew, blew the pump up, and under waranty with nissan, but fuel was bad, and had a reapair bill in the 10g. no warranty job.
dont know if they asked their insurance to cover them.
