1FZ-FE coolant leak.

Post by 5inchgq »

Righto outers the 100 series has developed a coolant leak which seems to be coming from the head gasket area. Long story short it burst a radiator tank a while ago and the Mrs didn't notice the temp gauge was off the charts  , so I replaced the rad, all hoses and the thermostat filled it with coolant and it fired right up, no missing, no strange noises etc. So today I go to check oil and all the usual things and notice what appears to be coolant leaking from under the inlet manifold........

The rad is still full, no air bubbles etc, oils not milky so school me on what it could be.

I can only assume the head warped from the heat it sustained when it was over heated.......

Cheers,

Dan.

Thanks mate, it doesn't seem to be a hose, looks like its coming from the area between number one and two cylinders.
Anyone know if there is a welch (sp?) in that area ?

you have most probably answered your own question?
altho that could have been the cause for the burst hose for a start?
and the answer is its most likely going to be costly!
