petrol engine swap

Post by IBCRUSN »

Question...has anyone stateside or in OZ ever swapped out the petrol engine in the 80 series for a GM/Holden V8?

I have been looking around for improvements in the powerplant dept and the TRD supercharger and Safari turbo seem to be the only options. However, they are a wee bit spendy. I would think, at least here in the states that a Vortec V8 swap could be done for the same or less. You could have a new(er) engine rather than one with 145K miles as in my case.

Cheers,
Kris

A guy in Aus dropped a 5.7 litre V8 into his 80 and it was stolen and not insured Carter knows the full story about this as he knows the dudes brother

Whats funny is it is the same guy who got stuck in porters rd and the helicopter came and retrieved one of his passengers who was fitting due to the exhaust fumes. We are coming up to two years since this event as it was ANZAC 2002 we were down there. It was one of the last times porters was opened properly before they put gates up the top
