'BANANA' shackles legal??????

Post by oicnv »

got owned by department of transport last friday, extended shackles were one of 15 defects they got me for.

its a rn65 hilux, has superior ext shackles in front, was wondering if 'banana' shackles are legal as they arent really lifting the vehicle more so just tucking backwards,

any help would be good as i dont want to have to pull all the suspension out and start again...
cheers

The banana shackles are more of a clearance solution. So if the eye to eye distance remains the same, they aren't extended.
If you're fitting them with longer leaves then the eye to eye will need to be a larger distance to be useful so they will be extended no matter how you do it.

as mentioned there illegal if there eye to eye is longer. If you do a leaf sas and run them in some states you can get them engineered, but not if the car came out with a specific shackle length
