Michelin XML
Hi fella's im looking into runnin 325/85 16 michelin xml tyres on my 2001 f250. Seem to be quite hard to come across. Ive had a quote from a truck tyre store on these. and they reckon $1300 each i couldnt believe it! Does anybody on here know of any kicking around? New ones are On backorder for over 18months from michelin. be good to get a decent set of 2nd hand ones.

Re: Michelin XML
Why ? AFAIK these tyres are useless as shit for a 4wd despite a few decent trucks having tried to run them. Extremely hard and tough military/agricultural compound and almost no give in the walls, designed for roadworks and a few military vehicles. Comparable to running a military spec Goodyear MTR, sounds cool but would be shit to drive on and give no traction due to compound and construction.
Edit: just read your looking to run them on an F truck, so assuming they aren't really for off road use anyway ? why dont you buy a normal road tyre ? This is not the correct application for these tyres.

TD 80 Series - Custom barwork, E locked, 35" MTR's, Lifted, Fox Shocks. Good times.
Re: Michelin XML
These tyres are excellent when run a heavy vehicle. Having spent a lot time with the above vehicle and the tyres, I would not recommend them for general 4wd use. They are very expensive, road noise is massive, little to none side traction, and not the best wear rate. There has always been a long wait for these tyres due to large amount defence procure. A set of maxxis are cheaper and probably a better tyre suited to 4wd use.
MUD, MUD, GLORIOUS MUD!
Re: Michelin XML
Try and find someone that buys a shit load from Defence. As there always getting rid of them. Never seen a LAV get anywhere near the wear marks before they get a new set of boots.

Re: Michelin XML
I've been trying to get a 37 inch tyre for my ute. But not many choices on 16 inch rims there's the interco m16 but just can't justify the price for them. And the rate in which they wear. There's bfgs I can get but from states.. Closest tyre I can get is Mickey mtzs In 36 x 15.5. But then I might get 50k if that out of them. Been reading up on these Xmls for a little while and the yanks reckon theyre a good hard wearing all round tyre. Being the f truck weighs 3.2t empty I should think they would work well. It's not like I'm rock hopping in this. Just after some meaty MUDs that are hard wearing. Army disposals in states are sellin me for 300 a set. Has anybody on here worked with Xmls and regrooving them.

Re: Michelin XML
You might not be able to get everything you want out if a tyre!
Going 37s has limited it so the options might not give you the kms your after!
Compromise I guess?
