08 BT50 TD lack of power, no boost?

Post by lux10 »

hi,

after having a look through the topics i didnt find a topic that answered my question to the fault my mate is experiencing.

so im in search for some answers for my mate, he has a 2008 BT50 turbo diesel 4x4 manual completely stock, standard front bar (which eliminates the ARB bullbar issue explained in another topic), he has been having power issues, as soon as the turbo begins to boost he looses power, the fault isnt specific to any driving condition, its present as soon as the turbo should boost, a weird type whistle is heard, at first i thought a vacumn line had fallen off causing the loss of boost....but all the lines are good.

He was told the intercooler was leaking, so he replaced it with a genuine intercooler, problem wasnt fixed, I checked over all the vacumn lines for the wastegate actuator etc, all seems ok, a mates dad has access to a dyno and it ran 90hp with the no boost issue, he changed air filter and fuel filter when he had his service, still no luck.

i was thinking it could be a solonoid fault not letting the wastegate actuator operate correctly? or am i thinking to much when it could be something more simple?

Has anyone else had this issue before?

Hey try pulling the map and maf sensors and clean them with sensor cleaner. Being a mechanic I have found that the map sensor gets really dirty with oil scum. The sensors are located: maf on the pipe that goes from the air cleaner to the turbo pretty shaw it has 2 Phillips head screws. And the other is on the inlet manifold u have to take the plastic engine cover off and it has a metal cover over it. I think it's 2 14mm bolts and the sensor has a 10mm bolt on it. Hope this has helped
