Solid mounting cabs?!

Post by pom »

Hey just wondering if anyone has solid mounted there cab to the chassis by welding it down? My cab isn't very big and there is only one factory set of mounts left so I was considering running a length of RHS down the rails and welding it to the cab and chassis! This will maybe help to stop the cab touching any bar work later on. Only thing I can think will be a drama is the cab tearing?

Thanks aaron

Not a good idea in my opinion, if you take it off road and flex it the body will develop cracks for sure.

I have solid mounted the rear 4 mounts on the ute, stopped alot of the creeking and groaning of the cab against the internal/external cages. I left the front two rubber mounted out of lazyness but seems to be to no detrement

It will hold up fine. The first car we did it to was 5 years ago, and still going strong
