Warn high mount brake not holding ?
Okay my brake holds fine on hills its when it's not in use that's the problem the cable slowly gets loose over a few days of regular driving. Is this common? Also my brake has started to stick when trying to free spool. I'm assuming these problems are related but seem far apart. Could it be the diesel ratteling it loose ?

Re: Warn high mount brake not holding ?
I doubt it would be diesel "rattle" causing it to unwind, more like the brake slipping. When was the last time it was pulled apart and serviced.
Re: Warn high mount brake not holding ?
Oil was done 6 months ago but that's it. What's involved in serviceing the brake ?

Are the brake ball bearings ment to be greesed or run dry ?

Re: Warn high mount brake not holding ?
Bearings run dry.
You need to disassemble the brake set, replace the brake discs and the brake will hold again.
Sticking on free spool is caused by the brake spring being worn and not forcing the brake components apart enough.

Re: Warn high mount brake not holding ?
The bearings had been greesed which had worked its way out to the pads. Spring was working okay but the centre of the brake was sticking to the winch side still. Have cleaned it all and will try get it back togeather temporarally till I get the new discs. Thanks heaps for the videos mate.

Re: Warn high mount brake not holding ?
Dose any one know if I can just buy the discs or do I have to get a kit? Also should I scuff up the plates with some fine sand paper while there out ?
