G'day,
about to start putting a 304 injected into my gq dual cab.
spoke to my engineer about my engine mounts and he won't let me use a lower control arm bush setup and wants me to use conventional commodore engine mounts.
reasons for this are due the the control arm bushes having about a 1/10th the flexibilty of a conventional enginer mount rubber. the car might not be worth engineering so gotta weigh up doing it how i want or doing it the way he wants and getting a certificate.
so looking for people's experience with using a control arm bush as an engine mount to see how bad the vibrations really are. car is just a weekender and tore a few engine mounts with the std 4.2 and don't want to have this problem again.
Cheers, Calvin

Re: Engine mounts 304>GQ
I run spring bushes in my car shook like shit for the first week but then settled in and is smooth now. Why not do it his way then make the type you want that bolt into the standard place
Rims flipped from $50
Re: Engine mounts 304>GQ
Just build it so the engine mount components bolt to the chassis, run standard mounts for engineering then bolt in the ones you want after that.
Cheers

Re: Engine mounts 304>GQ
what do you run struth?
after getting the engineers requirements i don't even think its worth it. maximum total lift allowed is 50mm and he wants all the welds done by a ticketed welder.
the bolt on/off option is good though

Re: Engine mounts 304>GQ
I run 4 Runner V6 mounts they do ok too I have broken one in 6 years.
Maximum lift of 2" ???
Pretty sure 6" combined total is still engineerable in Vic, maybe you need another engineer.
