Hi All,
I have just bought an 02 GU Patrol. The guy I bought it off recently put in a 2" lift which by my measurements is actually about 2.5".
The Q I have is what else is / should be done with a lift of this height.
I have read that longer sway bar links and proportioning valve bracket are required.
Can anyone comment or share some more info??
Thanks

GU Patrol - 2" Lift, What else is required???
Re: GU Patrol - 2" Lift, What else is required???
With a 2" lift, rear sway bar link extensions are required to stop the sway bar hitting the diff. Generally the brake lines are long enough to cope at this level of lift.
That's all.

The two things you mention plus you might also have to correct the castor with drop arms or offset radius arm bushes if the steering is too direct. I would also fit stronger lower rear control arms as the standard ones are easily damaged if you use it offroad.
You can also replace the panhard rods to centre your diffs, but a lot of people save their money and just put up with them being slightly offset. At 2 inches it doesn't make much of a difference.

What's the difference between ignorance and apathy? I don't know and I don't care.

Re: GU Patrol - 2" Lift, What else is required???
Well I can say that even with a 2" lift, the proportioning valve bracket IS required. I made myself one at work, fitted it and what a difference in braking feel and performance :-)
Re: GU Patrol - 2" Lift, What else is required???
Cars probably vary a bit, the rear proportioning bracket extension made zero difference to mine with a 2" lift. And it steered very well without any sort of caster correction, until i went to a 4" lift, then did the offset bushes.
If yours is a diesel, get new good quality brake fluid bled through it, and fit 4.8 petrol front pads (different/better compound). THAT will make a difference.

I added 2' to my 03 GU 4.8 and nothing else needed to be changed. Will put longer shocks in it one day when I get around to it.. but not needed so far.
