LHS headlights dull
Hi all, just replaced my high, low and parker light bulbs and now I've got an issue with the LHS low beam being dull and the LHS high beam being so dull you can barely see it.
Fuses are ok and bulbs are ok.
Thought maybe a poor ground that I may have bumped and made worse?
If I directly ground LHS High beam to negative on battery the LHS low beam brightens slightly and the LHS high beam will now work, but only when the dimmer is on lowbeam. I am guessing this has to do with negative switching.
I've run out of daylight and I'm lost as to what is happening here, will try again in the morning. But, if someone could give me some tips, that would be great.
Vehicle is a '93 FZJ80 and I've got no issues with RHS lights, cheers.

I fix Patrols all day. Then I get in my Cruiser and drive home.
Re: LHS headlights dull
Check your fuses. Each headlight has its own fuse. The fuse must be OK, but maybe the connection to the fuse or the wiring from the fuse to the headlight is sus. Also check the incoming power terminal - probably the centre one. Maybe it is on the way out. This will cause resistance and hence voltage drop (dim light). It is probably the imcoming power supply because both high & low beams are affected.
Re: LHS headlights dull
Fuses are definitely fine, but possibly the connections after them are not. There are 2 fuses, LHS and RHS.
Come the week end I'll throw the multimeter over everything and see what happens. Might end up going and buying some H1 and H4 connectors and solder them in.

If you are going to do this, you could consider wiring in relays and a new run of cable. The stock wiring is nearly always sub-optimal and you can get better light purely from running better cable.Glenn-80 wrote:Come the week end I'll throw the multimeter over everything and see what happens. This is not legal advice.

Haha I had considered that and as of now have wired up most of the new loom, just waiting on some relays, resistor and diode.
