Befor everyone ask I run 35"s tyres, 5.29 diffs, turbo 2.8 donk and soon to be 4.7 in the case.
Now my question is what do I get? Money is not that much of a issue(wanna do it once and not have to worry) I don't want to swap diffs or muck around.
Everyone has always days LONGFIELDS but locktup4x4 don't have them on there website Any more(why have they stopped stocking them?) does anyone else stock them?
Obviously have to go 30 spline Nd chromos but what brand?
Cheers for the help

Re: Axles
Locktup might order them for you but they were having issues with warranties.
Poly performance or lowrangeoffroad are more user friendly if you wanna get em from the states.
There's a fair chance you've got a chain driven transfer case so double check that before forking out for gears.
The diesel must rev its tits off with 5.29's!

Re: Axles
I didnt know that Locktup even did Longfields, I know they did the Dirty30s, but had some issues when it came to warranty stuff, so they stopped dealing them.
Now they do the Track Assassin 30s. And Snake does the Dirty30s now.
Like everyone else says, go straight through Longfields in the states, from what Ive read, heard and been told, they warrant their stuff very well, and are great to deal with.
If you go through someone like LowRange Offroad, youll also be happy, Sean was awesome to deal with when I bought my lockers from them.

As far as I was aware it was gear driven? I thought only the v6 and surfs had the gear driven91Mav wrote:Locktup might order them for you but they were having issues with warranties.

It only a weekend toy I wouldn't drive further then 10km each way to the 4x4 tracks so I sit on 80 but it'll do 100kph at about 3100rpm and it loves it just keeps on revving if I want.
The reason I said locktup was I jaw bought 90% of my gear from them and the products they sell are top shelf and the service they have is 2nd to none.
I gotta ring them this week so I will see what they say.
Bit scared of dealing with the USA incase things happen I m dealing with a bloke across the other side of the world. I would rather deal with someone in this time Zone and this country.

Re: Axles
I had no issues at all when I was dealing with LowRange Offroad.
USPS had perfect tracking updates, and was updating constantly.
The only time I got paranoid was when my parts landed here in Aust, AusPost suck badly at updating tracking.

Re: Axles
I rang locktup 4x4 today. Got 2 bits of bad new. No longer stocking LONGFIELDS ATM bacauae of warranty issues(from the customers) and no 4,7 marlin crawler gears in stock. And no idea when they are due in :(
So I think I will try get the longs from low range and see how long it takes to turn up Bd then find out about the geArs from locktup and if no answer still try lowrangw for then also.
But I would rather deal with locktup if possible but if I can't I have no other choice
Does anyone run there rear axles for the IFS housing? Any good?

I think he means IFS rear housing.
Youll be happy with Low Range Offroad mate, they have great service.
I was a bit weary about dealing through a company in the US, but they were really good.
Sean Cronk is the guy you need to email.

Re: Axles
Hey guys, we will have Longs up on our site again shortly, most likely tomorrow or wednesday. We just had to work through some of the finer points of some warranty issues we were having from a minority of customers. Not so much for people using them for their intended purpose, but for people thinking lifetime warranty means CV's for life regardless of horsepower/tyre size etc etc.

Re: Axles
Your best off sticking with stock rear axles. Even the boys in the states are going back from Cromolly axles in the rear to stock. You can even ask Bee Bee on here about them.

Re: Axles
Bit late but just a bit more extra info on the rear axles, I reciently changed to trail gear cromo rear axles and 2nd drive on them I broke one.. I had never broke a standard and have since gone back to standard and are going strong..old lux wrote:I rang locktup 4x4 today. Got 2 bits of bad new. Trail gear did warrant them but took like 6-8 weeks which is pretty poor service (came through low range.. But I'd prefer locktup too)

Re: Axles
Why not fit them before breaking them while you're out wheeling? What if you're in a bad spot when they break? Could be more of a pain then just fitting them up now....just my 2cents. I broke a stock rear axle on 37's ages ago on my lux and thought about cromo rears but after all my searching I found they were pointless as brad said above.old lux wrote:Well they arrived on Friday after a month. yes i did hear that from someone else brad. they said they twist more insted of just snapping straight away like the chromos. so i think i will be sticking with standard and its cheaper

yer i know what your saying but i will be only 5 minutes from home(work shop where it lives) and it it will be taken there on my tilt tray(as i will stil be on call anyways.) so i will do a few tracks and then replace then.94lux wrote:Why not fit them before breaking them while you're out wheeling? so you ended up running the standard axles on your lux with the 37s? did you break many? i only have a turbo 2.8 with 5.29 diffs with 35s so hsould be a lot less torque running threw them then you had with duals(with 4.7s) and 37" rubber

Re: Axles
I still have my cromo ones but am running stock ones for now.. I'm going 37 sticky treps and will see how stock axles go and if I break them might try cromo ones to compare ..
But after breaking it on second run on them and trail gears piss poor customer service I was a little disheartened..
Go cromo hub studs too as said, they cost little and alot less chance of breaking them..

By hub studs you mean the 1s that hold on the manual locking hub? Do you really need the studs that hold the kingpins while I m there?

Re: Axles
Yeh the ones on the knuckle that hold on your steering arms, they are known to snap.
That's why people modd to 5th stud or 6 shooter knuckles
I bought both types you are askin about (for lockable hubs and have ordered ones for swivel hub)
For what you have spent a few hundred more for studs would be worth it..

Re: Axles
Well worth buying the ARP hub studs and kingpin bolts. I snapped all my hub studs on one side out wheeling and it's not much fun trying to get the snapped ones out even with ezy outs....

Re: Axles
I find the biggest thing with the kingpin bolts is them coming loose hence uneven forces causing them to snap. So heavy on the lock tight!
