IFS vs Live axle
Hey Guys,
I am looking at buying my first 4WD have been with friends and family and really enjoy it and am finally in a position where purchasing a 4b is financially viable.
My biggest problem being that I have conflicting stories and opinions regarding IFS. What are everyone's thoughts and the pros and cons about IFS and live axle 4b's?

Re: IFS vs Live axle
it depends on the ablication.
In my opinion if you are going to use it a daily driver, i like the ifs. it is more comfortable, handles well and is OKAY offroad, there are allot more lift kits and products been made for the ifs as most 4bys are ifs nowadays.
If you are going to use it as a 4by, most weekends and arnt going to do hard long miles on-road i would go with the solid axle, in MY OPINION is better offroad, easier to pinpoint falures and is simple to work on. You will get more flex, and it's all tried and tested.
Hope i helped a little but it really depends on what your going to do with it.

I'd have to disagree. For long highway miles. There's nothing in it between live axle and ifs. My cruiser drives much nicer than my ifs hilux.brendo 75 wrote:X2 on thisrockcrawler31 wrote:Thisbuggy man wrote:it depends on the ablication.

Re: IFS vs Live axle
go solid axle. I went ifs to start with a 4runner and found that when i switched to the 105 cruiser it was chalk and cheese offroad. also no real difference on the road esp when running bigger tyres.
105 series cruiser 305s bighorns, budscustoms rear bar, 12,000lb mako w/ synth, too many hid spotties ++
