hilux wont start ln106 3l

Post by inbits »

Hey guys done as quick search but I'm running out of time

No I was defected for a leaking injector pump so I have replaced that along with timing belt water pump and starter motor.
When I timed the engine I made 100% sure that was right now once i tried to start it the dash lights (reds) they are intermittent and when they don't come on the starter won't work the only lights that work are the oil light and the stereo back lights.
All of this of course is stopping me from starting it so what would be causing this ?

Thanks in advance

G'day, does the starter go at all? Does the battery have enough go or does it need charging? Also, have you bled the fuel until it comes out from each banjo and fitting on the pump and injectors?

will check that out but not sure why that would happen once I replaced starter and injector pump I did check batt terminaks and the engine turns over perfectly fine when lights do come on.

Haven't bled the pump yet

Ah, I think I understand now, so sometimes the dash lights will not come on except for oil light and the car will not crak at all but when the dash lights do come on it cranks alright? Do the lights come on with any movement of the car or wiring as that does sound like a wiring problem like a loose plug or similar.

Yes sorry I made that a little hard lol

I shook relays and the like around the engine bay made no difference but lights are off more often than on I gave up as the car is at work and it was late could the plugs and main battery cable to the starter have anything to do with this

I would be looking at battery cables and cables around starter but its a bit odd that you have some lights but not the others, if something like the battery cable wasn't connected then all the lights would be out, not just most. Check the plug that connects to the starter motor that the terminals are not loose or rusty as that could do it.

just sit there cranking. crack all the injector lines at the top and crank. it helps if the battery is fully charged or have to hooked up tio another vechicle thats running to keep it cranking hard.

crank for 30 seconds then let it cool for 30 senconds then crank again.

do so untill fuel is coming from at least 3 injector lines(all 4 should come roughly the same time)

then lock them off ans should fire
